Thanks for all of the suggestions. Now for a few more specific requests.
For taking in beautiful beach scenery (I'm not referring to the ladies in bikinis ) do you prefer Malibu or Laguna Beach.
Also, have any of you did one of the guided Beverly Hills tours? I'm talking about the ones where you get on a bus or van and they drive you through
some of the Beverly Hills neighborhoods and point out homes of movie stars.
Also, have any of you been to the Ronald Reagan library?

I have been to Malibu but not Laguna so I can't compare the two.
If you are a fan of President Reagan and / or a political junkie then the Reagan Presidential Library / Museum is a must!!!
It is also a very pretty 30 minute or so drive out of LA / Hollywood. The museum is high on a hill with a great view.
I was there about three weeks ago and since I was there last they have added the Air Force One jet that Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter , and Reagan flew on. It is a Boeing 707 that was replaced just when Reagan left office with the 747 used now. You can actually walk through the airplane. It is in a giant room mounted facing giant glass windows overlooking the valley. It looks like it could soar out of there any moment!
The museum is very user friendly with a lot of short video's explaining displays and things that happened during his Presidency.
I have never taken one of those "Homes of the Stars" tours but I should. I have driven around Beverly Hills and stumbled across some wonderful mansions. I think that tour would be interesting as they know exactly where to go to see some really cool homes.

I think I would really like to do the Reagan presidential library. I have heard it is a nice drive up to it. I have been to Laguna beach and I know it is beautiful. I have never been to Mailbu, but if I go up to Simi Valley to the presidential library, I think I will take in Malibu on my way out. I have heard that the Malibu Canyon Rd is a beautiful drive in between Malibu and Semi Valley.

California is so beautiful! We had the opportunity to travel pretty much the whole state as far as north, south, east and west. Started in San Diego and went from there all over the place. I remember seeing cowboys - complete with gauchos and western hats - riding the ranches. The beautiful wildflowers on the hillsides ... like a blanket of color.
We drove up the #1 highway along the coast from San Francisco all the way to the town where Clint Eastwood lives. Forget the name of it now. It was spectacular!

Seriously, that sounds like the way to go...the commercial stuff is okay once but it is a great state to see the whole range of topography and all of the beauty...they even have enjoyable rafting tours up north (not whitewater, but something calm and enjoyable)...
Reagan's Library is something I would love to visit

I'd love to visit that library too. We're not terribly far from Cali here. I think it's just a couple day's drive - something like that.
We went to Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, visited churches all over the State including the church in Eureka, Thad's church - his dad was pastoring then of course, we were in Turlotte (is that right?), Bakersfield, Riverside, were with Bro. Theobald, etc. Can't remember all the places now.
It was a fantastic 2 weeks we spent there. And like I said it's a beautiful state!
