Although I am a McCain supporter I consider myself able to impartially judge these things. I thought Obama clearly won the first two debates purely on style. Style goes a long way when there is such a contrast.
The debate before this one was supposed to be McCains strong area, the Town Hall format yet because of his war injuries McCain looked stiff and robotic in his movements and thus appeared awkward when moving around. He also had a knack when moving around to manage to place himself with his back to the TV cameras. Drove me nuts! Last but not least he appeard sometimes cantankerous where Obama was a vision of calmness with that superior little smile.
This final debate I thought McCain clearly won. He appeared much more "Presidential" and in addition to exhibiting superior knowledge presented it in an appealing way.
I thought Obama was clearly on the defense much of the night and did not have near as good a performance as the previous two debates.
I was shocked when the pundits declared that Obama won and snap polls immediately afterwards showed the same.
You can ignore the goofy voluntary polls at sites that draw people of a particular view. The CNN and MSNBC website polls are voted on mostly by the libs that watch them and the FOX news poll by the conservatives that make up the majority of their viewership. You have to look at scientific polls or at least ones done at a netural site. As far as neutral sites go the voluntary poll at AOL showed the debate tied with 47% picking each as the winner.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
Quote from Ethel Goss (widow of 1st UPC Gen Supt. Howard Goss) book "The Winds of God"
This election has always been about John McCain changing the game. He did that at the RNC. but when the financial crash happened, he had to change the game again.
McCain hasnt changed the game in any of the 3 debates.
Pointing to who "won" the debate in my estimation misses the point. Barak Obama had to not lose. He didnt
John McCain needed to come away from any one of the three with some clear point that made a shift in peoples minds.
He certainly didnt do that in the first two debates. And as good as the "I am not George Bush" line was, i dont think that changes the game either.
Maybe (and it is a slight maybe) Barak Obama hurt himself with the conversation with Joe the plumber, but that remains to be seen. and it remains to be seen if McCain can or will capitialize on it.
The second thing is, can Barak Obama close the deal here. Even with those leaning towards Obama, there are lingering doubts about him. Is he too radical? Do we want to be like Europe? In my opinion these are the very big and very unanswered questions that will decide this election and we really wont know until election day.
This election is a referendum on Barak Obama. It really has little to do with who he is running against....which is why from McCains perspective it has been about changing the game....

Seriously, three weeks is a lifetime in politics. I believe when many undecided people go to the voting booth, the determining factor will be who they trust more.
Do you trust someone with a resume and proven track record of past experience, or do you go with a great debater and champion of rhetoric. In other words, do you risk your future on a politician's style, rhetoric and promises?
Remember, "Read my lips!"? Politicians will promise anything that will help them get elected. You have to go by their record to get a clear understanding of what they will really do. Obama has done very little or nothing of substance since becoming senator. He's been busy running for president! He can talk a good talk though!

This election, with the first black man running in one of the major parties, lends itself for the polls to be even more loaded to the Democratic ticket. In every election in the last 20 years, with the exception of 2004 the polls were very heavy to the Demo's.
Obama is gifted, but does he have character.
no , he lies almost every time he opens his mouth, to bad, lol

What surprises me is Bush is not out helping the Repulicans push for the White House. Clinton was out helping Kerry while President, why not Bush?
I know "some" don't think he is a popular President, but he WON TWO elections, so there are folks out there that do like and approve of him.
Do you think it is because McCain wants to distance himself from Bush?'
Do you think it would help McCain if Bush were to help push for him?

He is gifted.
Some say he is ahead in the polls.
Yes, Sen. Obama has character.
No, he did not close the deal.
