I haven't heard that, but what they meed to realize if he wasn't black he wouldn't even be in the race.
Truthseeker, I'm not so sure about that. In my opinion, if he were this charismatic White guy without the Rev. Wright and militant Black baggage with questionable ties...McCain would be the one not even in this race. I think that it is his race and all the other personal factors that are even giving McCain a shot at this.

The only reason he got the democrat nomination was that the blacks the left the clintons to switch to one of the own, Obama. You can't get the democratic nomination without the black support. Blacks desire so much to see one in the high office due to the history of never having a chance before.
In one sense I can't blamr them, but most don't even know his history or want to recognize it, they just one in.

I think it's two edged, if he wasn't black(half) he wouldn'y got the nomination and because he is many will not vote for him giving Mccain some help.
Don't really like calling him black because no more black then white. Maybe we should call him brown candidate.

Truth, I think that you'll find that Obama was embraced by White liberals well before he was embraced by Blacks. I'm just saying that in the grand scheme of things, his race and all the implications that surround him will be more of a hindrance than a help. I don't think this general election would even be remotely close if not for those factors.

I think you are right. i would have liked to seen a black Democrat candidate. I think it would perhaps bring some healing to the land,BUT
why couldn't they have found a good ole Baptist and a moderate?
I certainly would have supported that! But no! they had to go and select a far left marxist radical! good grief!

I agree in the main election it will be hindrance for him, but in the democratic nomination it's the blacks switching over that propeled him in. If the blacks would have stayed with the clintons I think she would be running.

I'm not sure why that seems to be an issue for you (and some others on this forum I've seen make similar comments).
Many people who are biologically biracial will identify themselves more with one race than the other. They might be "mixed race" biologically, but will often identify themselves "culturally" as black, Asian, Hispanic, or whatever. It's always been that way in America.
Many, if not most, biracial (black/white) people consider themselves black, or identify more with their black side. And society as a whole has largely considered such people as black.

I agree. Barack Obama is no different in that aspect than the other majority of bi-racial people and their identity. Not sure what the hang up is on this.
