Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
I was saved/born again on March 28, 1955.
A few months afterward I joined a local Baptist Church.
As I served the Lord and read His Word it seemed that more was available to me as a child of God than what I was hearing about at that Baptist Church.
Through ministries of Pentecostal preachers such as A.A. Allen, Jack Coe, Glenn Thompson, Oral Roberts, and C.M. Ward (speaker on the AG radio program Revivaltime) I learned about the Holy Ghost Baptism.
On October 27, 1955 I was baptized in Jesus' name at Elim Tabernacle (UPC) in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
On May 20, 1956 (Pentecost Sunday) I received the Holy Ghost Baptism at Bethel Tabernacle (UPC) in Racine, Wisconsin.
I attended the Apostolic Bible Institute (UPC) in St. Paul, MN from September 1956 until the end of the school year in 1957.
I attended a UPC church in Cincinnati, OH from 1957 until some time in 1963 or 1964. Here I met the young lady (she was 15 at the time) who later became my wife. We have been married more than 50 years.
I attended an ALJC church in the Cincinnati area from 1963/1964 (can't remember the exact year) until some time in 1978.
During the time I was attending these Pentecostal Churches (and while I was in the Baptist Church) I received many blessings from God and answers to prayer.
Since leaving the ALJC church in 1978 I have attended a Vineyard Church for many years and have been attending an independent church for over 2 years.
I can look back at over 50 years of serving the Lord and can say that I had many good experiences in Pentecostal churches.

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
Baptized in water at the age of 7. Filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 15 (ok, so I was a little slow!). The Holy Ghost kept me through lots of trials as a teenager and young adult. Thank the Lord I've never even been tempted to have any alcoholic drinks or cigarettes, just never desired to. I've seen God do miracle after miracle in our lives and I trust Him implicitly. I'm thankful for a Godly praying husband who loves the Lord first and me second!! I'm thankful for two Holy Ghost filled kids who want the will of God in their lives. I'm thankful for Godly parents and all four grandparents, who instilled in me principles and morals to live by. GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME!

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
I came to the Lord by reading a copy of A.A. Allen's Miracle Magazine. They year was 1970 (Bro. Allen had just passed away). I prayed my first prayers from a Catholic Prayer Book. My first "church" was a radio. I was baptized in Jesus Name in Novemeber, 1970 by Pastor W.H. Dunn and Evangelist H.H. Phillips. I listened to Don Stewart, R. G. Hardy, RW Schambach, Pastor David Epley, Apostle Milton Perry and scores of others. I attended every crusade that came to town and recieved the Hoily Ghost in Jan, 1971 under the ministry of Bro. Schambach. I moved back to my hometown of Jeffersonville, In and attended Branham Tabernacle and Bro. Raymond Jacksons Faith Assembly. Later I moved to Cleveland, Tennessee and it was there, while sitting in a classroom, Jesus revealed to me who He is: the manifestation of God in the flesh. I started preaching and served as an evangelist for many years, though I am no longer in the ministry. As you can see, my Christian walk has been quite a journey. But, today, I am happy and secure in the knowledge that I am in the Lord's care. It took me a long time to get here, but if I was a singer, I'd sing this:
I started out traveling for the Lord many years ago,
I've had a lot of heartaches, had a lot of troubles and woes.
Oh, when I would stumble, then I would humble down.
I'd say, "Thank the Lord, I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now."
There's nothing in this world that can ever take the place of God's Love,
Silver and gold could never buy His love from above.
When my soul needs healing and I begin feeling His power,
I can say, "Thank the Lord, I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now.
I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now,
I've got to make it to Heaven somehow.
Though the devil tempts and tries to turn me around.
He's offered everything that's got a name
All the wealth I want and worldly fame,
But if I could, still I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now.
Great thread, Bro. Epley! Need more of them!

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
I am a 4th generation pentecostal. I received the Holy Ghost at age 19 in 1970. He has kept me, provided for me and loved me for 57 years. I give Him all the praise. I am proud of my heritage in the church - which taught me the truth and to love His Word. My testimony is that He has been Faithful to Me!

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
I think mine might be long.
My mother was invited to a Bibly study by the parents of a girl that made friends with my sister when she was in the fourth grade. I was 12 or 13 at the time. Although they had an older daughter who was closer to my age, we weren't friends nor in the same grade and I didn't want to play with my little sister and two girls I didn't know. So I, being older than my years, listened to the Bible study along with my mother. Reasoning it all out, it made perfect sense to me, I needed to be baptized. We began attending Lighthouse, a UPC church pastored by Bro. Larry Hoyt in Lucedale, MS. When my mother decided to be re-baptized into Jesus' name, I was baptized with her. I didn't receive the Holy Ghost until I went to Junior Youth Camp that summer, but I can still point out the spot in the camp sanctuary I was standing. The speaker was Bro. Larry Squires. When we moved later to Alabama, we changed to Saraland UPC, where Bro. C.E Calk pastored. I attended there until I was a bit over 21 and was active in Quizzing and choir. Then, I stopped going to church for a very long time. I married. I was delivered of three children. (I didn't do the delivering. The MD did that. C-sections are occasionally a life-saving surgery.) I'm now 33 and due to some problems in life that I can only see as my husband and me making a mess out of running our own lives, we've decided that there's certainly nothing weak about letting God run them instead. Certainly, He'll do a much better job than we did. Presently, we're separated and working towards reconciliation. Sunday night, he hit the altar and received the Holy Ghost and is scheduled for baptism this Sunday.

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
Born into Pentecost in 1961, got the Holy Ghost at Youth Camp in 1971, played music and sang in church since I was a kid. WEnt to Bible COllege in 1980, met my wife in 1983, pastored for a few years, and had some great times!
I can definitely say that the good times outweighed the bad times!
Just because I'm no longer UPC doesn't mean I don't still love the UPC and am thankful for the Pentecostal church!

Re: Pentecostal Testimonies
38 years ago, God saw fit to save one of the sorriest lost souls you ever seen. ME !
He did'nt have to do it..thank God he did.
Married me one one of them holiness gals in 1972...she's still my first wife.
We have been blessed with an awesome daughter who has been healed of cancer when she was just 17. She is now 32, in full time ministry and in good health.
