I think we've raised a generation of kids whose attention we do have to "grab" or they aren't going to hear a word we have to say. IMO, we can either wish fondly for the good old days when a droning lecture commanded attention, or we can get with the program and do whatever it takes to get our message across. Probably a good middle ground in there somewhere, too, but I dont' have time to dig any deeper. See ya'll tomorrow!!!!
MisBrattified, you have some good points.
I am not saying we shouldn't have a good presentation of what we have, nor should it be boring.

I am only stating that as a society has "Entertainment" become the buzzword
and has it taken place over substance.

The old timers going all the way back to the early Church had great moves of God with very little Entertainment factored in.

If it worked then-why not now?

Not me ... but your minister friend you quoted I hope would classify all other modes of entertainments as big time wasters.

The real question is this....

HAVE WE BECOME/ARE AN ENTERTAINMENT BASED SOCIETY?
HAS IT CREPT INTO THE CHURCH?

Well I do know this. Between his business and personal Ministry, he has no other time.
And he is not married-yet.

If he is on the Internet it is for business, ministry, or research.

Did the creeping in start the minute we started having choirs ... in church?
Did it start when we started having concerts in church?
Did it start when people started sitting down while the preacher now had to stand on the platform?

Or when Christian artists started recording???

Did it creep in when we started having special programs for the kiddies?

Did it creep in when only a select few minister in the church?
