Love that Sister Terrell...what a mother in Israel!
Writing this book has given her new life.. a chance to put it all out there... it was sooo sad at the end as she told her children goodbye and begged her children in the faith to "never let go of the faith"

Re: Sis. Lois Gatlin Terrells new book

This thread made my mind race over the many years of knowing sister Lois. I remember her preaching so well as a young man. Only today I remember her singing a soul stirring song during one very tender altar call that she gave after she preached. I wish that I could now remember all the words to it. Some of the words go like this.

Have you counted the cost
if your soul should be lost
though you gain the whole world for your own
have you counted, have you counted the cost.

If anyone reading this should recall all the words to this song, please give them to me.

It's good that she wrote this, that she passed on some of her story.

A while back I heard that there is an African proverb that says, "When an elder dies, it is like a library being burnt to the ground." Sis. Terrell and others have been through so much and have done so much for the Lord and they have a lot to tell us. When they pass on to their reward, all that treasure house of thoughts, experiences, knowledge, wisdom, etc. is gone unless some of it is passed on through books. The UPC has provided quite a few biographies in book form. I've read and enjoyed reading biographies of Oma Ellis, Andrew Urshan, Benjamin Urshan, Jimmy Russell, Howard Goss, Pauline Gruse, T.W. Barnes and others. But think of the many who are gone and their story was never heard beyond their small circle of influence.

I heard of a church that kept a list of all those who had been "set down" on a blackboard in the lobby of the church.

When I visited Christ Temple in Indianapolis, they told us that Bishop Tobin had a blackboard set up by the door and if your name was on it, go home because you had been disfellowshipped.

I LOVE IT!

Maybe that was the place that was meant when I heard someone say that about the blackboard. The person I heard say it was the late Norman Paslay. I don't think he gave any indication of where it was.

Poor people,,, making mountains out of a molehill.....

On the GYMNASIUM.... there are a list of things not allowed

NO SHORTs
NO TANK TOPS
and so forth..... they had to do this because so many other people were using the gymn and basically disrespecting the standards of the church.. its no where on their church at all... again how gossip loves to grow.... this is the very reason I have decided not to respond to a very slanderous thread about me by a newcomer.... because the poor folks are cluless as to what their talking about.... and I have learned over the years that you never give your grace to other folk's disgrace

Again, no standards listed on their church whatsoever
