I read that book about a month before Walt's aneurism ruptured. Steve is right. It is very convincing. A couple of people mentioned it to me while Walt was in the ICU including my boys' pediatrician. They were all anxious to see if Walt experienced anything like this because technically he was dead for 105 minutes (no blood or oxygen to his brain or any other vital organs for that period of time). I asked him after he was in the nursing home. He has repeatedly assured me that he had no such experience at all. Nothing even close. In fact, he doesn't even remember anything at all about the time that he was unconscious. Nothing.
That doesn't mean that I don't believe that it happened to this man. Who am I to doubt it? As far as his making money from it - I'm sure that the has a ton of bills and expenses after his experience. I know what our bills came to. He was laid up for MUCH longer.

Partially and also theologically. I've seen many 'near death' experiences and I've also studied the matter. The 'evidence' is very vague at best and science is understanding more of what happens during the time.
On a theological level many of the accounts conflict with each other as well as Scripture. Also, the rich man asked Abraham to send Lazuras back to his brothers and he was told that if they don't believe the scripture someone brought back will not bring them to salvation.
These stories don't really point to what Christ did on the cross they are a sales pitch for fire insurance or for a celestial condo.
There are other reasons too. I just don't want to go there on this board.

You know I read the book, but, I wasn't convinced. He seems to be a very nice man and to have had what he feels was a very real experience. Who am I to say he didn't?
