Re: UPC Biker Ministry and Brother Nathaniel Ursha
If the Man on the Harley is proof of manhood and women want their men to be that man...Would Julia Roberts in Pretty Women be the desire of every man for his Woman to dress like that to showcase her womanhood?
Re: UPC Biker Ministry and Brother Nathaniel Ursha
I don't think preachers and preachers wives look right on
harleys that just my opinion.
I know a Pastor who when I was a kid held a long
revival at our church. I always looked up to him (still do)
but when he got around age 55, he started going thru
some kinda mid life crisis. suddenly, he buys a harley
and tries to be young again. that's my perception.

Just not a good image for the senior pastor
My pastor rides a motorcycle, always has. I don't see a problem with it except when he doesn't wear a helmet!

Carpenter, are you speaking of the late Nathaniel Urshan?
I'm having a really hard time grasping the correlation between Nathaniel Urshan's Godly lifestyle and personal choices he made to remain above reproach, with the Biker Ministry.

I think you saw a LOT less of my body dressed in jeans, boots, T-shirt, leather jacket, leather chaps and a dew rag than Julia Roberts sported. I wouldn't be caught dead dressed like that! LOL

Some of them could never afford a bike until they got in their 50's. For me, I have a choice between a sports cars (which I have driven almost all my driving days) or a bike. The sports car is far more practical. Now if someone wants to GIVE me a bike, I'll ride it every way to Sunday!

Rev, what then are the objectives of the minstry? It is a viable, and marketed UPC ministry after all.
Is it to win bikers to the Lord and have them retain their persona so they can ride in evangelistic packs to win yet other bikers to the Lord??...or is it to convert them and have them renounce biker-dom and separate themselves from the world and begin dressing and looking like everyone else?
...I am not advocating anything, I am just asking questions.
Re: UPC Biker Ministry and Brother Nathaniel Ursha
Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing "biker" gear. If it has no offensive language, what's the problem. There are many biker groups in the US with the name of "Sons of Thunder" and they are Christians. There is a Christian biker group here in my city. They don't drink, cuss, cheat etc. They do ride and enjoy it and they dress how they want to. An admirable "ministry" or even just a hobby to hang out with guys of like precious faith.

It has to do with abstaining from the appearance of evil. Can you have an effective biker ministry while keeping the biker persona intact and still be separated from the world?
...or is this an effort to pull folks out of the biker lifestyle completely? If so, why promote the black leather chapped up look, decals, etc., of that biker culture?
If you want to create an Apostolic Biker club made up of weekend warriors who already presumably have the Holy Ghost, fine, is that really a ministry though?
What WOULD Nathaniel Urshan thought of all this???
