Why isn't it wrong to wear these things?
Aren't they made with no regard to gender distinction?

I think the scriptures refer to changing who you are (inherently), and to trying to pass yourself off as or pose as the opposite sex.
I don't think it has a thing to do with wearing similar items of clothing.
