Last night my wifes Dad had his home going. At 83 he still seemed young, but we new his heart was struggling these past few years.
He was in church this past Fathers Day with us with a big smile.
A great Christian. although he would not talk much about it, he landed on Normandy Beach on D-day.
He will be sorely missed by many. Thank you.

So sorry to hear about this, Free.
We will be praying.

Bro. Freeatlast,
Sorry for your family's loss but to your precious FIL, he's free at last!
May the hearts of your family find peace and comfort during this time of
loss. Your family's loss, but heaven's gain!
Blessings,

Freeatlast,
Very sad news. Please let your wife know that we are praying for her and the entire family. What a blessing to have him around for over 80 years!

Thank you Falla all of youu for your prayers and kind words. I thought this past couple weeks he sensed the time of his departure was nearing.
Just last week he gave me a new wheel barrow and shovel when I was out at the house, saying, "naw take em. i don't need em anymore.
He came up here from Kentucky in the early 40's, put down 15 $ on a peice of property and pithced a tent on it and went to digging a basement on side of the hill.
At 83 he was still building custom made banjo's in his basement workshp.
One of his banjo's was in a traveling muesum of hande crafted wood instruments with the state of Illinois for a year a few years ago. He has hancrafted over 100 of them.
On his 80th birthday we honored him at our church with "Blue Grass Sunday"
We had over 40 guests of his with us for the occasion and did music blue grass style.
I preached that Sunday, a sermon I entitled "The Gospel according to Willie", his life was a testimony of faith.
Our pastor is on a missions trip in Russia, so your prayers are coveted as I and another B-I-L will be doing the funeral service.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, FreeatLast. As I read your testimony above, I thought of the famous quote of General MacAuthur- "Old soilders don't die, they just fade away.". While your FIL is now gone on to his reward, he has left behind much more than wheelbarrows, shovels, and banjos. He left behind a testimony of faith.... like so many of our other faithful heroes of Heb. 11. Sometimes I like to think Hebrews 11 is still being written and the names of our departed brothers and sisters are still being added.
"BY faith, Willie, even when he was aged, and his eyesight dimmed, blessed those all around him, by skilfully crafting with his own hands, stringed instuments, so that the songs of Zion can still be heard".
