Re: Tim Russert Dies of Heart Attack!

Very sad. He seemed like a very nice man and quite reasonable. Only 58... Just a reminder that life is short, no matter how long it lasts and it can be over at any moment.

He always had a pleasant grin on his face. I liked him.

Re: Tim Russert Dies of Heart Attack!

He had just gotten back from a family vacation in Italy and in fact his family was still there.

He didn't seem a picture of health as he was a little overweight but he also did not appear to have any health issues.

You just never know. Any of us could go any second.

He would sometimes infuriate me but he was fairer than a lot of the mainstream press.

I've never known him to have "strange ideas".
What kind of strange ideas are being referred to here?

So true.
Just another sobering reminder that God can call our number at any moment.

...And only what's done for Christ will last.

Re: Tim Russert Dies of Heart Attack!

I just read somewhere that he was on Time Magazines list of 100 most influential people in the world for 2008. I knew of him, had seen him before, but wasn't aware that he was that highly regarded!

Very much so.

As found in this online article on him:
Russert, who served longer than any other moderator of the longest-running program in television history, started his Washington career as a Democratic congressional aide and rose to become the gold standard of Sunday television news show hosts. He was a relentless interviewer, feared by officials and politicians, yet his show was a highly prized forum because he was so respected.
and
"When you went in and did an interview with Russert, it was like going against the best pitcher in the major leagues. You know he was going to be throwing 98 miles-per-hour,” said former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who announced his bid for the Republican presidential nomination on "Meet the Press" in January, 2007. “But if you were prepared for Russert, you were prepared for the major leagues.”

Re: Tim Russert Dies of Heart Attack!

I was shocked and saddened when I saw that he passed. I have watched him on-line every week for some time and I always enjoyed his jovial style and knowledge of American politics.

I saw a video this afternoon where it mentioned that he had just returned from a trip to Italy with his wife and son where they celebrated his son's recent college graduation. Very sad....
