Re: Christ Church Pastor Change

BTW - For those who don't know this pastoral change has been in the works for over a year and is part of a transition plan presented some time back. We just didn't know the exact timetable.

For awhile now Pastor Hardwick has been listed as Sr. Pastor and Dan Scott as Pastor. Before it was Pastor and Associate Pastor.

Re: Christ Church Pastor Change

Well with Dan and myself it wouldbe more of a co-pastoring. I s he only getting $500 a week too. Tell that board they are behind. Now that gift cerificate to White Castles was nice but $5.00 won't buy much there either.
And free piano lessons from Steinway but I don't want to play. The Dell techinican was a nice touch but I won't be abel to afford the net on $500 a week. The one coffee a week at the coffee shop wasn't bad but I don't drink coffee, and the gym class half price but I do my jumping around in church and am too wore out. I spoke to Dan about the incense I told him why the smoke when you can have the fire he went just jumping and bucking and shaking things are getting ready to liven up at ole CC.

Whatsoever can be shaken will be shaken!

You could single handedly fix our parking problem!

CC1 and PM, are you both in favor of DS becoming "Pastor"?

Also, who votes - and what qualifies them?

Speaking of $$... Is the Pastor's salary public information at CC?

I really like Dan Scott a lot. I just don't know what his endgame is when it comes to where he wants to take the church.

Most of what I hear over the pulpit I like and agree with. I think he is trying to slowly move the church toward a little more open / emotional worship without it going overboard and I like that.

Our big issue right now is where we live. We are 45 minutes from church and so between going to church, sitting at church for a couple of hours, and then driving home, it is very hard on my wife who has back and neck problems.

I love CC and don't want to change churches but my wife really wants to find something closer. The local church we like the best is just five miles from our house but it is a church that baptizes in the titles rather than Jesus name which I have a problem with. All of the preaching I have heard there has been right on the money and fantastic. It is a daughter work of a major Charismatic church near CC in Nashville. In fact CC uses a book co written by the pastor of the mother church as the curriculum for a CC class.

At this point I may go to CC's early service alone then rush to meet her at her church for their Sunday service!

Members only vote and until a few months ago CC had no members! They just made a big membership drive so they could meet the actual requirements of the church bylaws, etc when it comes to electing a new pastor.

I don't think they specifically list pastors salaries although one time about 8 years ago when Stan Mitchell was the Associate pastor in the middle of talking about something , I forget what, from the pulpit Pastor Hardwick turned to Stan and asked him what the churc had paid him the previous year and Stan said $112,000. I couldn't tell if they were serious or kidding. It would be in the range for a mega church of 4,000.

I do know the income of the church has been in the $5 million dollar range annually and that is what they spend on operations, missions, etc.

Bethel has a daughter work in M'boro. Is that the one you're talking about? I wanted Zac to visit it, but he got pretty involved in the Sunday night service at World Outreach. It's a lot different than the Sunday morning - much smaller and more intimate worship.

Yup. That is it. It is pretty amazing because the church only has about 120-150 members but the music program rivals that of any size church I have ever been at.

They have a full band and about six or seven praise singers. The musicianship and vocals are great. Being a college town I guess they have a lot of talent available.

The pastor appears to be around 50 and although I have only heard him speak once it was very good. A second time I was there a guest missionary was also excellent. I can't remember his name but he works with missions in Boliva. He speaks five languages and later that Sunday was doing an Arabic service in Nashville.

They baptized 12 o 13 people (incorrectly) a few Sunday's ago. You ought to get your son to check it out one Sunday morning. Service is at 10am and that wouldn't interfere with his night service at WOC.
