I'm kinda puzzled by what caused Dedicated Mind to start this thread.
God spoke to people in the Old and New Testaments (Adam, Noah, Abraham, David, Hezekiah, Paul, Ananias... to name just a few).
Why would anyone in the church today think that God has stopped speaking to his people? From what I can see, there's no biblical basis for thinking that.
So, what's this all about, DM? Talk to us about the impetus behind this thread.
There is no biblical basis for tongues and miracles having ceased either but...
...but I guess that's another topic. lol
Dedicated seems to be doing a lot of thinking the last bit.

I believe God speaks to us through His word and through dreams, but does God speak to people directly? I am highly suspect of holy ghost impressions and of people saying, "God spoke to me". I am on the verge of being a complete skeptic of people that claim to speak to God. Hasn't the word told us all we need to know? How have you heard "the voice of God"?
If He did it once He can and does it do today.

People in the OT didn't have the full counsel of God as we do today in His word. I guess the reason for this thread is from a growing frustration with nothing happening in the spiritual realm though I believe if Israel ever builds a third temple there will be a widespread revival. I guess it's just frustration with preachers saying God spoke to me and its usually trivial matters when I think that God would speak about much grander matters and people would fall to the ground as dead men if they really heard the voice of God.

I have heard God speak to me, not in an audible voice but in a clear distinct thought...
Seeing as the Spirit of God and the Word of God are one, you can be assured that if it truly is God doing the speaking in your heart or your ears... it will not contradict His Word.
I personally believe God wants to have a relationship with all of us, in which He can speak to us and we know His voice.
Timmy, all joking aside... the thinking of this world is a dangerous kind. That which destroys faith is of the God of this world.

I have no problem with someone saying "God has never spoken to me", but I take issue with calling others liars and saying "God has never spoken to you either." How can you know? How can you say that because God has never healed you that He has never healed me? Or that because you haven't spoken in tongues that I haven't either?
We should have more respect for others' experiences.
By the way, "faith" is when you believe in something you haven't seen or experienced. It doesn't take faith to believe in something you have personally experienced.

Amen.
That's why Timmy needs to recieve the Holy Ghost for himself. Right Timmy?!

Yes,
Problem is they can't hear his voice with the IPOD and ZUNE glaring in their ear's.
Actually, there is Biblical basis. At question (among other things) is what "that which is perfect" means, in 1 Cor 13:8-10.
And yeah. Watch that thinking, Dedicated. See what it did to me?
Only... what it did to you is no laughing matter, Tim.
