I'll have wonderful thoughts of mothers days gone by. Mama has been gone 6 years the 3rd of July. The last gift I every gave her was a beautiful hanging basket with an ivy in it. It is now on my porch. I will look at it and weep.
I am sorry for your loss.
I think when it comes to the loss of a parent or children you never really get over the loss, you just learn by the grace of God to deal with it.
I understand the feeling of loss...not of mother of course, but father. It's been 5 years and I still can't go to my church on Father's Day. We go to church with my brother in Pontiac.
I bought my mom a card which I will take over tomorrow. Today I took her a huge bouquet of lilacs from my yard, which she was thrilled to pieces with and then I took her to dinner at Chili's and out shopping for the afternoon. I wanted to get her something but she keeps insisting that the clothes I got her a couple of weeks ago are enough. What can I say? I learned long ago not to argue with mama!
My brother did the most outstanding thing for her this week. I just have to share it with you all. He took her out to the local car dealership and had her test drive two cars "just for fun". Then he asked which one she liked best and promptly bought it for her! I am soooooooooo happy that he was able to do that for Mom. Her old car was in such bad shape it was getting dangerous. By the way, we're not talking a "new used" car. We talking brand spanking new! It's the first brand new car she has ever owned in her whole life. She just grins from ear to ear when she's showing it off. It's so fun to watch her with it
We were talking tonight and she was telling me (with no small amount of pride in her voice ) that all the old people in her senior citizen apartment complex tell her all the time that she has the best group of kids they've ever seen. We just do what you aught to do for you mom. We shovel her snow when it snows, plant her flowers and weed them in the summer. Over the 4th of July she and my aunts are going on a weekend trip. While she's gone, we're all going in and repainting her whole apartment for her. We take her shopping, carry her groceries in; our kids go over and carry out her garbage and haul her laundry to the laundry room. Those kinds of things. Nothing big. But sadly, you don't see the adult kids of the other people in her complex even coming to visit their parents. I don't get it. Maybe because I have the best Mom in the whole world.

Margie that is so great what you all have done for your mom!
Both I and my wifes parents have been dead for awhile so we will just be celebrating my wife tomorrow.
We will be going to Earl's for dinner after we go to service tomorrow.
You?
I'm sorry to hear that, though you look pretty good in the pictures.
I'll be going to somebody else's church and then to somebody else's house (who doesn't even go to the church that I'll be attending) to eat food that will become my own once I have fended for it.
I had the sweetest morning surprise. My youngest daughter and my nephew made me breakfast in bed... including 2 of my pain pills on my tray LOL I asked her what those were she said I wanted to make sure you werent hurting today (thats the first time I was so glad to actually see those pills how sweet) and then they had my sister take them shopping yesterday and got my favorite donuts which are entenmans (sp) chocolate donuts and then they made me these huge cards... One with Mother and what it meant to her... Most loving person I have ever met... Only one who knows me and loves me perfectly *then in asterisk other than God LOL* .........The one who cooks all of my meals without ever complaining... Helps me when I am hurt.... Editor of my life without you mom showing me the way I would have not gotten the holy ghost and I want to be saved and now I am because you showed me (WOW that one tore me up!) ..... Reason I love...
I dont care if they get me a single gift or not... that was absolutely the best gift I could have ever received!

See, AG! Sometimes our kids do things like this and prove to us that we're doing a good job, even tho some days we're left wondering! I'm so happy for you. You're children have rose up and called you blessed.

My Mom passed in 1969 and I sure miss her still.
I woke up this morning to a big hug and kiss from my grandson Austin, a few minutes later 3 more of my grandchildren and their Dad brought me cards and a gift. Went to church and go a lovely gift from our precious Pastor and his family. Went to eat Mexican food yummmm with my husband and grandson. Got home and had a lovely rose and card waiting for me from another son ( Austin's Dad) and his wife. A card from my youngest daughter April. And am waiting for the rest of my kids and grandkids to show up. Have had a blessed day as our Pastor's wife read 1 Corinthians 13 and of course taught about Love. One thing she said that will stay with me is, it doesn't matter what we look like on the outside if there is no love in our hearts, the world won't know we are Christians. Amen!

We have a smart aleck on our hands.
I went to dinner with my Mom and Dad, brother and family and my sister-in-law's parents.
My two year old sat on my lap the entire time and opened his mouth for me to put food in. He refused to be a big boy today. Happy Mother's Day to me HA... I'll take it though, I know all too soon he won't want to be on my lap, or maybe even in the same restaurant.
