Sister Alvear,
You aren't putting down the ministry. There are good ministers and there are ministers that aren't who they portray to be from the pulpit.
It truly is a different world now. It's not just a sad day for Apostolics. It's a sad day for every ministry that is trying to live a biblical lifestyle. I hear more preaching about pornography and sin from the baptist church that I attend some than I do the apostolic church I attend. To me, that is sad. Why do we shy away from preaching where we all live now? It's like the original post said it isn't about tv anymore. It's much worse than that.
I have had to take major steps lately to protect my own family from the strongholds of satan. Porn can be accessed through cell phones now. We don't have hbo, playboy, and whatever all those other channels are but through a cell phone just as much garbage can be accessed. One of my friends is a counselor and he told me that 80% of men are accessing porn through cell phones now. Unbelievable! We can put filters on our computer to protect our husbands and kids but now they can access it through the cell phone.
It really is a heart issue. If we have a heart to follow Jesus Christ, we won't let the filth in our lives. As Christians, I think we are getting more and more desensitized to the things of the world.

I agree that internet is far more dangerous than TV...
TV is almost a thing of the past for most people...

Maybe I am misunderstanding what was written in the first post but this is the answer that I posted in the other thread.............
If you are saying that these things are wrong, then how is it that you yourself have internet access? Obviously you do, since you are able to post on here. Just curious.
By the way, I'm not in any way saying that accessing these places is ok. What I'm saying is that you can have internet access while not going to the porn sites, cheating with those you meet in chat rooms (or Apostolic forums, for that matter!) or any of the other places we don't belong.
It sounds to me like you want to throw out the baby with the bath water. Am I reading what you are saying wrong?

I'm not saying the internet, satellite radio or cell phones are evil, I have all of them. I'm just stating that all forms of technology can be used for evil. We can't say absents of the TV is holiness anymore.
In the Tampa Conference, ministers were standing and voicing their opinion on revolution number 4, and they kept referring to TV as a holiness issue. Why is it only TV? I will not preach against TV in my church, when people can get on the internet and watch Fox News, CNN, and very sitcom and soap on the networks. Why is TV a holiness issue and the internet is not? All because it’s in our precious manual and we have to sign an affirmation statement saying we agree with it every year. The church world outside the UPC look at us foolishly because we are so strong against TV and use all other types of technology.

Psalm 51:15-17, "O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart."

Re: It's a sad day for Apostolics that...
Matthew 15:17, "Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and so passes on? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a man; but to eat with unwashed hands, does not defile a man."

Re: It's a sad day for Apostolics that...
In making Jesus the true Lord of my life, temptations of the world have become less and less tempting....it truely is a matter of the heart....Jesus doing for me what I could'nt do for myself.

And I agree with what 'hairypreacher' said. (lol)

Thanks for clarifying that for me. Sorry I misunderstood.

HP, I apologize for misunderstanding what you were saying. I agree with your stand on these issues, by the way.
