We can't answer that question for everyone. Each individual has varying degrees of outward standards/convictions, etc.

We have to respect each person's choice of standards/convictions.
Well, my question to you would be; do we have any holiness within us? Is not our holiness as "filthy rags"?

Is Christ not our holiness?

Now my question is this: How can outward fleshly standards of dress protect Christ within us? Can the flesh actually protect holiness?

Sure does!!!! Women in bundage and wearing a sack dress are a lot less likely to fall into tempation and drag a holy man of God down with them!!!!

Re: Do Outward Standards Protect Inward Holiness?

If anything, standards could be preached as a way to KEEP us from certain sins. For example, if you don't drink you can't become and alcoholic, if you don't go to the casino you can't gamble to much money away, if you don't have TV or internet you won't watch porn.

I have no problem with a group of folks having standards as long as they don't start claiming they are biblical.

I don't see how cutting hair, makeup, and wearing pants is a protection though. Usually those are the only standards I hear people making a big deal over anyway.

I have not problems with people that do follow them because they mostlikely have a personal conviction whether be conscience or they feel from God.

However, are we not just changing behavioral patterns and not seeking to regenerate the soul by teaching this?

Shouldn't we be teaching surrender to Christ daily? To mortify the flesh and its deeds? And when this happens, won't all the other problems go away?

Why would you worry about gambling and porn when the flesh is dead?

Romans 6...shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid, how are we that are dead to sin live any longer therein.

LOL Now wait a minute.... I have seen those women and sometimes they do drag a man down....

And not all standard keeping women wear sack dresses....! I for one dont'! lol

Do the outward standards protect inward holiness? Hmmm I guess I would have to hear the entire message in whole to completey understand what the speaker was saying.... But, for what it's worth....

I have kept standards the majority of my life....but I will say that there was a time that in a lot of hurt, I did backslide...my heart wasn't right with God. I still kept my standards but any holiness within was seriously lacking.... I think what protects inward holiness is your everyday walk with God....I believe you need holiness within and without.... There is a balance here... I would say inward holiness protects the outward more.... but that's just my opinion.....
