I'm considered conservative by some because I believe the new birth is the baptisms, water and Spirit. But as for "holiness dress" standards, I follow an individual conviction approach.

I just leave other folks in Gods hands. I finally figured out it's * Not My Job*
I do have my *Special Prayer List* though and I've added several to it since joining here at AFF.

You go sis, we sure need it.

Yep, it already happened. And of course with the usual disclaimers. Can't have a nice list of qualities because that would make some that aren't conservative really have to look at their attitudes.

I speak only for myself. When I say 'conservative' in this context I am referring to the 'holiness standards' continuum. In my book the godhead and salvation issues are not related to the 'holiness standards' thing. So, by my estimation, you can be an OP, three-step person and be either liberal or conservative or anything in between. You can be a trinitarian, one-step person and be liberal or conservative or anything in between as well. I don't connect the two, although I know that some people do.

{BTW: I talked to a trusted spiritual advisor today about what you and I were discussing earlier. Interesting.}

Everybody touch your neighbor and say "Miz is the bomb!"

True, true. I agree with everything you're saying here. I do keep in mind however, that even among the Pharisees there were those who believed in Christ. Those are my spiritual kin. And there were many among the hookers and cheats who believed. They're my kin too. Please understand, I'm agreeing w/you here and attempting to support what you're saying.

My personal point in starting this thread was to confess that my attitude has changed toward my conservative spiritual kin folk. I'm beginning to weigh them more in terms of their good qualities than their negative ones. Well, most of them anyway. It's a process.

So I would say #2 and #5 don't seem as true anymore. It seems that unless everyone thinks like them or unless they are the majority they run away and THEN claim the board is not conservative enough.

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
