I plan to start the walking regiment next week, possibly as early as Monday.
Great news about your plans to get in shape! You got some good advice here on your thread. Many years ago while living in Northern California, I was a long distance runner and I ended up paying for all the abuse I did to my joints, especially my right hip.
Walking is a great way to burn calories. When I moved to Houston to attend college, I stopped running/working out and I gained nearly fifty pounds. One day after out growing another size of pants, I decided to do something about it just like you.
I started prayer walking after hearing Richard G from San Fran talk about it and prayer walking not only helped me loose weight, it was a great way to connect with God.

Exercise with weight loss will help you control your diabetes also. Some people can control it so well that they can go off meds and insulin as long as they keep up with a good diet and exercise.
