If I remember correctly I think the UPC was claiming 500,000 in North American Sunday School attendance back in the late 1970's when I was in a UPC Bible College.
If so a 29% North American growth rate over 30 years is pretty dismal.

During my last 10 years in the UPC church growth seemed, for the most part, to be one of shuffling members and not true growth.

I think God is adding daily to the church, and of His Kingdom there shall be no end.
Thank you.
I hate to see when it seems people want to do a "death-watch" on the UPC.
I find it somewhat repulsive, actually.

Oh but we have Global Impact and we are gong to double in ten years lol
YA RIGHT
Why are you mocking them? What's wrong with setting ambitious goals for the Kingdom, and working toward them ?

It seems to show the UPC is stagnating currently.
Stagnating?
Keep in mind many groups and churches have broken off from the UPCI over the years, but still remain Apostolic. So as long as they remain in the Kingdom of God, and He is glorified, the statistics of an individual denomination are not that important.

No one should be afraid of a fair analysis of the facts. There are some real issues the UPC has to face concerning the growth rate and demographic makeup of it's ministerial base.
What I did not like was to see someone seem to ridicule the goal of the UPC to double in the next ten years. I think that is an admirable goal, especially in light of the anemic growth rate in the past.

Agreed. Lets think about what organizations have developed as a result of braking off from the UPCI, then groups that have subsequently broken off from them, still remaining apostolic. A group's acronym hanging above a church sign is not a true picture of it relevance or impact.

Again, I think we place too much emphasis on the organizational numbers. I am attending Men's conference this weekend where the theme is going to have a focus on Global Impact. But the spotlight will not be how these me will impact organizational numbers....it how men can impact the local church. Thats where it must start!
