Well I was a teenager the last time we visited relatives there. We did visit a church in Laurel Mississippi, I think.

You might be able to find a few churches in New Orleans though.

Here is a good guide to restaurants that are open and good from a native New Orleanian. The guy who writes this is a food editor for the paper. http://www.nomenu.com/RestaurantsOpen.html It is very current.
The Metarie Church pastored by Br. Parker is a good church. I have not been to Br. Cupit's church in years. I know the building was destroyed by Katrina. Also, Br. Sartin's church on the West Bank of New Orleans is a good church. Hope this helps.
