CrazyJoe,

There were over 660 licensed ministers in California last year. Many post on this board at one time or another.

The Earthquakes will not send California into the ocean, and there will not be a 50% loss of the ministry to Tulsa.

There will be a North/South split in 2009. That will have a larger effect than any other meeting.

1st...Buxton does not have a "big" church.

2nd...He is one name that is leaving the new Southern California District. The Western District will comprise everything from the Grapevine up (Bakersfield to California/Oregon border). From whatever is left...that will comprise the "new" Western District. I would say the new Western District will not be as large as before. But, I think for those churches left in the new Western District, it will be a better climate for them.

You are comparing California/Tulsa AND
Internal UPCI North/South Split in 2009? Or you saying the North/South will form separate organizations?

I think what he is saying is that the Western District will not lose 50% of their preachers to Tulsa. I think what he is also saying is that the formation of the Southern California District and the new Western District will have a greater effect on California than Tulsa.

I think another point of interest is we know what some ministers think about Tulsa and those that will joining the Tulsa group. BUT, what about the saints in their churches? Do they agree with the move...and will some be making the move with their pastors?

Speaking of California....I hear that a long standing minister in one church that is going to Tulsa has left or will be leaving that church, staying in the UPC...and there are some people following him. There is another church whose pastor stated he will be joining the Tulsa group and there are people in his church finding their way to another church.

I think the eventual split of the UPCI/WPF will result in a split of some churches as well.

I can only go by what we have seen on the WPF Committee list...and those we have heard rumored to leave.

It is clearly evident that the following will be joining the new Tulsa group:

Wilson/Young
Booker
Morton....(although, I do not know who he will be joining).
Clark
Frost
J. Shoemake
Wilmoth
Buxton

Anyone else at this point is clearly speculative.

There are a lot of large and medium size churches in the WD whose Pastors are not involved with the WPF such as Haney in Stockton, Keyes in Modesto, Nelson in San Jose, Abbey in Sacramento, Mullings in Bakersfield, Larson in San Diego, Hodges in Chula Vista, and Emory in Merced.
