I appreciate the input but the "GOOD RIDDANCE" is not a good view to take.

When the infamous AS resolution was first being discussed back in 1992, I remember the author of the resolution saying, "There comes a time when every movement needs a good bowel movement!"

At the time I felt that was an unfortunate statement to make. Within just a few short years, of course, even that author of resolutions ... ahem! ... moved along, and left the org.

Despite the disagreements we're still brethren. I think that it just may be the case that when we learn how to separate gracefully, we may have also learned how to stay together graciously.

The AS was, I believe, authored by Brothers Westburg, Price, and Gray.

Two of them died still UPC, and Brother Price is still UPC.

Thanks, I mispoke. His church would pull out nearly on the heels of his passing. Either way, there's not much of a commitment for the org being shown. Just IMHO.

My understanding of authorship comes from public statements and a contribution that, though he didn't pen any of the resolution, Brother Price supported it because of a threatened lawsuit from a CA pastor who would not line up. I may have misunderstood Brother Price, but that's the gist of what he said, as I remember it.

In retrospect, I think Brother Price should have simply stood his ground against the threats. Unless of course, if he himself knew there were grounds. That would be the only reason I could imagine for backing down. Or he may have just grown weary.

The statement I quoted earlier is straight from "the horse's mouth." Many others can and have attributed the same words to the same man. It was something that was often repeated with laughter at the time.

I am very careful to speak out against anyone ...time tells a lot of stories...we must speak out against what we deem as sin but not attack people especially those that cannot speak for themselves.
As long as there are people there will be splits and divisions...we deal with it on the mission field, you deal with it in the states...many splits are caused by people that want to be the boss...most people that want to do right don't spend their time in politics...
I saw someone this week and last week petting the peved...birds of a feather fly together...
There will always be both good and bad in any camp WE decide what we want to be...

Please allow me an opportunity to apologize. I made the statement out of emotion and I truly regret making it. I know Brother Odom well and I do have great respect for him. In fact, I have known him my entire life. I guess it's just very hurtful to see this happening and really there is no reason for it to happen, in my opinion. I did not mean the statement and I do sincerely apologize. Please forgive me.
