My brother,

Wow!!! A lot here, MBM. First, I want to tell you that I respect your position, approach and level of intelligence and articulation for what you believe is right.

One aspect that you may not be factoring in your assessment of this forum, in general, is it's history. Many of the "senior" posters here have been discussing and sharing ideas for more than a decade. It started w/ Faith Child Forum, under the direction of Jim Yohe ... and continued on at New Faith Child Forum and now the AFF.

I have just started posting w/ this wonderful dysfunctional group in February of this year ... and very early on I realized that there is a pecking order around here. They also, despite the ideological tug of wars, value tolerance, diversity and integrity. The culture here is well-established and grounded.

You raise legitimate concerns and articulate reasoned arguments for them ... however to expect folks to even consider what you have to say often takes time ....

12 k posts later ... I think I've made only a dent, in at least most folks, appreciating my viewpoints. They may not agree ... and some may even despise me even more ... but they listen and/or are entertained.

I encourage you to keep posting ... keep rocking the boat ... keep thinking ... keep sharing ...

We are all better for it ... IMO. Most of us will agree we've grown as a result of it .... theologically, logically, personally, gramatically ... and daresay, spiritually.

From newbie to newbie ... my advice is... it takes time. Most of the prolific and endeared posters here ... all have their quirks, pet peeves, areas of expertise, and their agendas ... but their persistence has payed off in gaining our RESPECT points.

I am glad to be part of this ... the admins do a fantastic job dealing w/ the hundreds of posts each day ... and we all are involved in self-moderating the content.

Whenever people assemble ... church, home, school, work ... there will be disagreements ... and a compilation of the good and the bad ... but at the end of the day, here at AFF, we still call each other brother and sister.

You must be able to agree to disagree to remain sane up in here, too.

Lastly you've got to admit this IS better than REALITY TV.

Great post, Daniel. Very preceptive, to the realities of AFF.

You pick the good and try to diffuse the bad. Dora tells stories that are a hoot. Gabby's I have never visited, but am told that ronB was a major addition at one time. Sis Alvear has wonderful photos in the Missions Area.

There was an excellent read about Backsliders last week.
Yeah, that was a good one, there are some.

To post a "hari-cari Admins are all evil" thread means you may not understand how the forum works.
Never said that, I just questioned why the bad behavior was allowed, and not even spoken against.

If you must go and enjoy forums, we can suggest some that are a bit more tame.

Please do. And thanks for the response.

I'm finding that I level pretty quick in this game compared to others I have played, (Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot, City of Heroes).

It's probably easier to preach against a book, because you don't have to explain what a book is. lol.

LOL! I just read this....

I haven't played any of those..how sad is that? I should probably stop calling myself a gamer.

I'm sorry that you've chosen to do what I have found to be the typical "Apostolic" way of handling any dispute. First you stand up and tell everyone in the room that you're better than they are, and then you walk out.
I regret that you feel that way.I never said I was better, I only asked that people either back up their negative claims about the ministry, and leadership, or if they had nothing, to stop spreading the gossip. I stood/stand by what I said, and only decided to leave it when folks started deffending the spreading of gossip, and attacking those who question it.

You're a smart guy (I'm guessing "guy" is right), but you appear to be pretty smart. You've been around enough people and enough Apostolics to know that the idealistic veneer that we all wished were real is really just a stick-on job.

If I understood the reference you made about who your pastor is, I know that you wouldn't be welcome for long on CAF. And ironically, it was the CAF (Conservative Apostolic Forum) positions that you were trying to defend when you got into the kerfuffle you mentioned.
No, I was not deffending their positions, I was speaking out against speculation, and rumors. I don't give a flying flip who it was about, gossip is wrong, and thats what I was speaking against and questioning.

Your ISP service agreement says that this Internet thingy is for "entertainment purposes only." When AFF stops being fun go do World of WarCraft for a while (or something). Better yet, go to some AARP forum for Hummel figurine collectors and watch the name calling and character assassination that goes on there!
No thanks, there is plenty of that here, I have no need to search for it elsewhere.

I wish you all of the best, my friend.
And you to, I have enjoyed our discusions, and still may return for more.

I'm sure you're always welcome back. Just come back with a different attitude and don't come here with an agenda of reformation; it will only frustrate you when people don't change the way you want them to.
Are you a pastor?

Thank you, I say the same for you with the exception of the approach in some cases

I don't really give a flip about pecking orders, and seniority on a forum. That's just an air of arrogance on the part of the ones with the "tenure" IMO.
Just because someone has been posting on a particular forum ever since Noah started the first thread titled "rainbows, and their significance to apostolics" doesn't give any more credibility to their posts than the newbie who just showed up. A persons attitude matters FAR MORE than how long they've been on a forum, or how many posts they have.

But it sure doesn't take long to have em backlash when someone points out a problem does it? "OOOH No! that's MY baby! caint nobody be bashin on my gossip and rumor spreading now, no siree. Just who does this "new guy" think he is anyways? He's got no right to say nothin till he's been here for 95 years."

It's like saying, "yeah, I know we have a pile of maggot infested rotten trash over there in the corner of the living room floor, But don't you say anything about it now. You can't say anything until you have been here for five years.
And then we will just call you a legalist, or some other name. Clean it up?? BWAHAHAHahahaaaaa! you have to be joking!" "That's our trash, don't you touch it!"

Whatever.

Thank you, I may do so. But I disagree that anything good can come of negative speculation, gossip, and rumor spreading.

Oh, I can and have agreed to disagree many times on here and other forums.
It's when I disagree back that some folks get all worked up. Caint be touchin their pet you know.
And actually, no, not everyone is still calling folks brother and sister.
Instead they rip them to shreds and spread junk just because the person is attending a bloomin meeting in Tulsa or some such drivel. They no longer refer to them as "brother" or anything respectful.
Even if they did it would be pointless and hypocritical.

When you bash someones integrity, call them liars, question their morals, spread rumors and talk bad of their convictions, to then turn around and paste a label of "brother" on it is just hogwash.

Nah, I can't say that, cause then someone would jump on the "Internet is just as bad as TV" bandwagon. Do we really want another discussion accusing everyone who stands against TV as a hypocrite just because they use the Internet?
