Do you have kids? I can't remember. I also can't imagine what it's like to have to pack up things that would be most important to you, i.e., sentimental things, and get out of Dodge! How frightening. We will be praying for you all.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

I just want to let you all know how much I appreciate you sharing what's going on there with us here on AFF. To watch the news and TV here, you wouldn't understand that the situation is as serious as it really is. We REALLY need to be praying for all of you in the middle of this.

When Katrina hit N.O. and then went into Mississippi there was not bad weather in Alex. Maybe a little rain. When Rita hit there was wind and rain in Alex, some without electricity. We live 40 miles south and lost electricity for 5 days.

The weather is gonna be rough for La.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

Mayor Nagin is ordering a mandatory evacuation at 8 am in the morning on the West Bank...Giving 4 hours to evacuate....On the East Bank he is giving it at noon. He said he wants 100% EVACUATION...He is calling it the Storm of the Century!

He said "if you stay you are on your own"...There will be no emergency services.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

The models are showing a shift to the east now, putting the storm closer to New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
