The author of this piece is a dear friend of mine, and he is absolutely a gentleman.

His wife is a strong, intelligent lady, and she adores him.

You won't find a more courteous, and even courtly man in the UPC.

I have never seen him be less than gentlemanly.

In fact, as a camp evangelist, I watched him wade into a flooded kitchen in his dress shoes and help my wife clean up a mess.

So discuss the ideas represented all you want to, but start taking potshots at SB, Prax, and we are fixing to tangle, admin or not.

Notice the absence of smileys.

BTW women always worked. The difference is now our economy does not support one man working only 8 hours a day and bringing home enough to support families. Not all women are/were married back then either and had a man to support them. Used to be people had family businesses they ran or they hand land to live off of. But that is far from real anymore.

The big corps make having small businesses very hard. The central market square economies where everyone met and sold their wares or bartered is none existent in most of the US.

Women can be women and still work outside the homes...what really suffers is the children. That is the sad part. If she can work from home in her own business or telecommute, that is great.

However a lot of what this sounds like to me are men that are insecure about their manhood.

This is the post that elicited the post above.

Hey coon, notice my absence of smileys too.

You don't intimidate me in the slightest.

I was not attempting to take a potshot. I was giving my opinion on what was said.....

yes that is what it sounds like to me.
If that sounds like a potshot to you, then so be it.

What I said did not in any way draw into question being a gentleman, treating a woman right or being courteous.

Take your best shot. The other admins can decide, but I don't respond to intimidation and threats Coon in the way you are probably used to.

What exactly did you read that would give an exuse for rude, crude, tactless and unwise behavior in SB's statement?

Intimidation?

Don't flatter yourself, Brother. How well I know that it is hard to kick against the Prax.

How on earth would one of us go about intimidating the other, anyway?

And threats?

The way I'm "probably used to?"

What in the cat hair are you talking about?

I am just telling you that if you make this personal against SB, I am going to challenge you on it.

I based my supposition on past instances when you have drawn on your perceptions gained by being in the Western District against what you consider "ultra-cons."

You have, if I am not mistaken, made comments about men and told folks that if they were out there where you are, they might feel like you do.

I hoped you weren't going to go this route with Brother Buxton this time.

By the way, I resent the implication that I habitually make threats. That is an outright prevarication.

The reason for my post is that it seems to me that with the departure of real "Maleness" in our society it has become a seedbed for this PC mentality. It bothers me that men ( and I have seen it on this forum ) have to apologize and try to defend themselves if they speak in a way that some would consider not PC. Were the O.T. Prophets P.C.? Were the Disciples? Was Christ? I think not. Trumpets can be loud, disrupting even alarming but they do give a certain sound. Is not the admonition of Isaiah 58:1 to "lift up thy voice like a trumpet..." I am in the Church today because Men of God, Real Men of God, lifted their voices plainly....and I heard them and understood them..and am thankful for them today. Lift up your voice like a trumpet!!
