Miriam was what? A prophet...a woman prophet....Sanballat said to Nehemiah, "Thou hast also appointed Prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem." Then according to Sanballat, the first thing a Prophet is to do, is to preach for some one having been appointed to do so. (Nem. 6:7)

I Cor. 14:3,4, we have this concerning the work of a Prophet, "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation and comfort: But he that prophesieth edifieth the church."

and Paul tells us ALL to desire to prophecy....

Speak as God's mouthpeice...

God used Baalam also, you want to put that sorcerer who used divination in the NT ministry as well? What about his donkey, he had more perception than did Balaam.

Prophecy in 1 Cor. 14 is not the same as preaching. Here you read it for yourself, it is given limits as to its operation.

1Co 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
1Co 14:30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
1Co 14:31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
1Co 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
1Co 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
1Co 14:35And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

I am sure he could write a thesis on a lot of subjects at Oxford and pass. Oxford is not a Biblical authoritative university.

So according to your reasoning Miriam was nothing more than Balaam?

It would be esaier for you to admit that GOD put before the People Moses, Aaron and Miram like HE said he did...

Miriam led some women in praise, but it did not A Priest make!

Sis Alvear, according to 1 Cor 14, anyone IN the church may prophesy, but not everyone in the church qualifies for being a deacon or a bishop. Can you find one female who is referred to as an evangelist in the Bible? Nope! So what will you do, you will give us your opinion as to what an evangelist or a prophet is. All may prophesy, but not all qualifies for the other offices.
