Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
Daily Bible Reading/ Study-KJV
(A simple chronological "through the Bible in a year" plan and then further reading/study at will or prompting)
The Walking Drum- Louis L'Amour
For Preachers Only- Elder J.T. Pugh
Sweat, Blood, & Tears- Ian Hood
(a book about manhood, but I think the writer is a bit of a sissy)
Praying Hyde
The Pastoral Epistles- J.R. Ensey
Long Knife- James Alexander Thom
(about George Rogers Clark, brother to William Clark of the "Lewis & Clark" expedition)
Wilderness Empire- Allan Eckart
(haven't gotten too far into this one, waiting to finish my current L'Amour book. I am a huge Eckart fan. Frontiersmen was great. Very candid and well researched narrative of the early frontier.)

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
I glad to see this thread get some renewed interest! I love it to see people reading.
After some discussion about how the Reina Valera translates certain texts many pages ago on the James Strong thread created Evang.Benincasa, I decided to start reading through my Reina Valera. I am in Romans currently. Otherwise, still making progress in Genesis for the NKJV, in Zechariah in the NLT, coming down to the end in Psalms in the ESV, and going slowly with SPQR by Beard.
I recently picked up a new Bible, the MEV, or Modern English Version and a new book by Richard Elliot Friedman called The Exodus: How It Happened and Why It Matters.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
Early Pentecostals focuses on the PAW. It also has hard data in it that is valuable for my research.
Pentecostal Revivalist was made popular by Aimee McPherson. Some of the more familiar hymns in it include:
Come and Dine
Deeper, Deeper
Tell Me the Story of Jesus
Joy Unspeakable
He's Coming Soon
We're Marching to Zion
Where He Leads I'll Follow
It is not dated. A picture of McPherson and her 2 kids are on the first page. It is from around 1921. The publisher was a Pentecostal publisher and writer from Oakland. Aimee lived in LA.

I always loved "Come and Dine". My wife says it's cause I just like to eat.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
I've finished Romans in my Reina-Valera but haven't begun 1 Corinthians as of yet. SPQR is coming along nicely. Just finished up the chapters on Octavian (Caesar Augustus). Cicero seems to be the focal point of the book, or at least, the lynch-pin upon which the author believes the history of ancient Rome hung.
I have less than 200 pages to go. Off this weekend, so might finish it soon.
