"Turned away many people"? Really, that's normal.

Joh 6:65..  ..And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

Joh 6:66..  ..From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Please stop taking scriptures out of context. The preceding verses explain why the people stopped following Jesus. It was because they didn't understand His words when He said that they had to eat His body and drink His blood.

Back to what MTD was saying. Yes, the legalism in OP churches turns many away.

And SOMEHOW which is beyond me to understand over something they have no scripture for at all.

It makes them seem like a cult. Do as I say or hit the road even with no scripture.

The Context was people left and turned back from Jesus because of His teachings.

It happens.

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Indeed! I guess the problem is that somehow pastoral preference has become as authoritative as God's Word. And that is a big problem

I think we all know the real Jesus would not be allowed on the "platform" of most Apostolic Churches. He would not be pleasing to the Pastors preference.

They would probably say he was dirty, unshaven and needing a bath and hair brush.

You know after all the Son of man had no place to lay his head, much less have a bathtub, shaving utensils, mirror or hairbrush.
