No you missed my point. I don't agree with anyone missing votes. I just saying that to not vote because you are not there is not the same thing as not voting when you are there.
To me that shows you either can't make a decision, or two you are a coward and can't stand behind your decision. A political move.
Esther, if you make decisions 4,000 times, that argument is weakened. Then when you and other politicians explain that this is a strategy that is used for a variety of reasons which you then articulate, the argument is further weakened.
I'm just saying that when I first began to hear people talk about his voting, I did not assume they were talking about 129 out of more than 4,000. When I found that out, I was nowhere near as impressed with the argument...nor clear as to why someone would try to make that a principle rallying point.

Then asking if that is not what he is paid to do does not jive well with your earlier statement that you were not really bothered by McCain skipping votes. This deal where we have to defend our guys no matter what and crucify the other guy no matter what, leads to these kinds of inconsistencies in my opinion.

Again, I am NOT defending missing votes. And McCain was never my candidate. I voted against OB not for McCain. I said when they put him on the ticket he didn't have a chance of winning, and he didn't.
My point is a man is running for the highest office that has to make the touch calls and he isn't making them. So it was a legit concern that now is proving to be why we were concerned about it.
Why can't he make a decision about protection our soldiers? Why does he have to take weeks to make that decision, but days to make a decision about throwing our country into an incredibile debt with his so called bailout?

Esther, I addressed this in a follow-up post that you probably didn't see before you sent this one. However, your post highlights what I am saying. One would get the impression from what you just said, that Obama voted "present" more than he voted yes or no. That is the way this was presented for months. When you bother to look into it and see that he voted present 129 times out of more than 4,000 votes, it makes the much ado look pretty silly to a lot of people.
So this is where those who criticized "his record" concerning this point should say, "Oh."
But they won't.
