LOL! I understand the not telling. I feel kind of weird telling these things too. But it ticks me off the way I was made to shut up when I got into the church, so I guess I'm rebelling!!! LOL!!

It does feel weird - Sort of like I'm talking about someone else. It's been so long ago!

Right. Especially when you are young and have seen little else.

Wow. I feel a little bit like "Goody Two Shoes". I would never have guessed this kind of stuff from reading all of you gal's past posts on here. I have never had a cigarette or a drink of alcohol. I have been very sheltered, I guess. For that I'm thankful. But I'm sure not boastful. But for the grace of God...........

we all have to be wise concerning how these kind of items are used/shared in our testimony.

We want to be 'real' and accessible.
We do not want to be proud of our former badness (I know this is nothing to new to AFF posters).

We want lighter content and humor in the mix with seriousness.

We want to testify of transformation that we have experienced "1st person" along our journey.

Her mother was alive but not responsible. My grandmother was raped when she was 16 and my Dad was born. Then, she married the man who adopted my Dad. They divorced years later when my grandpa had an affair and physically abused my aunt. My Dad was a very angry and emotionally unavailable man. My mom is a sweetheart.

Okay, now you know more than you ever wanted to know.
WOW alot to overcome. That is one thing people who were raised in church all their lives don't realize is when we who had so much junk sticking to us,come to Jesus. We have to overcome alot more and it takes a while to heal from stuff.I've had people look at me wierd because of some of the stuff I did way back.People in one church treated my wife as if she was a prostitute or something, unbelieveable they don't see people as changed or "saved" .No real understanding, God doesn't hold it against us anymore why do people?[ especialy the ones in church]

LOL! Yeah! In some ways, it's like, let sleeping dogs lie! If I told this stuff to my co-workers, they would hardly believe it!! And, I'm afraid I would lose their respect. But, I let myself talk about it here a little, because I'm still ticked at how people judged me harshly!! I have kind of a two edged view of people like I was. Part of me feels like I worked through all that and they are just going to have to too. They need discipline and time and teaching. I feel impatient with them....maybe because I don't feel anyone was very patient with me. I'm not sure how to. I am tired. But, on the flip side, I feel great compassion because so many people don't have a clue how hard it is to go from one culture to the other. It is incredibly difficult. I used to be very jealous of people who were raised in the church....feeling they had everything given to them on a silver platter. Now, I know that's not true. But, it seemed that way at the time.

Right. People can be very harsh. But, having been on both sides of the fence now....it's hard to be patient too. I'm glad I'm out of the ministry because it was just too hard.....for once in my life, my life is dedicated to me.
