God told Abraham he would give him the land he walked upon and so Abraham began to walk. His destination turned out to be a place of famine and he had to go to Egypt for awhile fully in the will of God.
FAMINE????? How could it be that a man in the will of God could end up here?
But it gets even better. Abraham managed to walk all over land that didn't have oil reserves! Explain that to me!
Obviously, God's wealth is not as man would calculate it; either in dollars or what we think we contribute to the Kingdom of God in this life.
There is no safer more productive place to be than in the will of God; even when we can't understand it. We can count the seeds in an apple but we can't count the apples in a seed.

Wow! Well written and great thoughts.

Listen, I'll tell you a story. When I was in prayer the Lord told me who my husband was going to be and vice versa. I have never been hooked up with a man that made so little money! lol!
During one episode of our life we lost everything we had, but each other and our kids! LOL! We were so poor I couldn't buy a pair of tennis shoes to go walking in. One day I prayed that I could get some tennis shoes, somehow. The next morning I went walking in my torn tennis shoes and about two miles down the road a pair of ladies Reebok tennis shoes, in my size, were sitting in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road. I picked them up and took them home. My husband asked me where I got them. I said, "God gave them to me." Lots of stories just like that.
Today he is making $30 an hour with a high school education. That might not seem a lot to some people, but I am proud of him. He deserves it and God promised me if I obeyed Him and quit my sales job he would return everything.
I went through the most humiliating time. My family was astonished at how poor we were and criticized me unmercifully!!! I was so embarrassed I almost lost respect for my husband, but then I would pray and God would promise. I would believe and then I would not believe and I would cry and say, "Help me to be content in the state that I am in!!!!!!!"
We are doing well now! I've been a brat, off and on, and I don't deserve him or God's grace and mercy!!

I didn't mean to post so much on this topic... obviously lack of emphasis on education in the UPC as well as Scenario "A" are both passionate subjects for me.

Yes, I'm here for the next two weeks... trying to absorb some culture while I am here. One interesting comment is that this place is a lot more christian-oriented than the US. The entire country pretty much shut down yesterday for Good Friday while people made a pilgramage somewhere... literally thousands of people walking down the streets going somewhere Thursday night.

Well it is a largely Roman Catholic country and Pentecostals are making inroads.
Have a great time.
One thing, when they know you are a foriegner merchants will "assume" you are rich and try to take advantage of you.
