1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. Acts 5:1-4 (KJV)
Ananias and Sapphira weren't being spoken about. He was speaking about the NT church as a whole and how they did things. He said his church was about believing in unity and having all things common. So did the church below, so I'm asking if his church did as they did.
And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions, and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need (Acts 2:42-45).

He doesn't detest the UPC, he said that God does. Of course, he didn't cite scripture for that claim.
Yeah I know, but I going under the assumption that because he thinks God detests the UPC that he does too. Just an easy assumption. I know there are not alot of people that like the UPC and really I am one of them, but my family likes it and was raised in it so I am just going along with it. I do enjoy being back in the certain UPC church I am in because it is easier on my family and I want to be involved with a church. I do have to go back through the membership classes, which I have already done a couple of times. This is just to become a member again. LOL

The UPC is all I know as well. There are churches I don't like and churches I absolutely love. I am all for improvement no matter where I go, but I'd rather be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
Membership classes? Can't they defer you or just give you a test? LOL!

I earn an honest living. If I work in GOD's Church, though, where HE is the boss, then I better be working in a position HE authorized.
GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex
Fine....for you. But to demand that of others, well, you better have scripture to back you up.
I'd like to know where church positions were compensated for with pay in the Bible anyway. For instance, if you are an evangelist, please provide scripture that says you should be paid for that position.
Surely God authorized paid positions in the church, didn't He?

This was not a commandment, it was the choice of those joining the church in the book of Acts. If you'll read one of my previous posts, you'll see how we hold all things in common in the assembly I attend.
But it was commanded for Titus to appoint elders in every city.
GOD BLESS!

The fact that Peter told them the property was theirs to do with as they wished, along with the money they received for it, shows that early believers had a choice in whether or not they sold everything they had and gave it to the Church.

Paul spoke of those that preach the Gospel being allowed to live off the Gospel. The ox that treads corn is not to be muzzled. However, in our assembly, the pastor has decided not to take a salary.

Alex, it's a good idea to have scripture handy instead of just claiming that it's there. It makes your argument more credible.

As to the movement issue-I agree I do not want to be part of the disease I would rather be part of the cure.
The church changed its by-laws in Feburary and when they did there was a list of people that had been members there thay either had left, moved, died or whatever and they voted to remove them all. I came back to church in March so I have to start over. The strange thing is that during the time I was 'gone' I still was at about 3 services a quarter if not more usually more than 2 a month. They still removed me. I feel that they should have called me and told me so I could have come back sooner. I was waiting for certain things to die down and work themselves out and then was pretty sure I would return. But alas no call and now I have to start over. They even made the statement that I was part of a 'like-faith church' but I was never actually a memeber there. But I understand what they are doing. They want to use me again and have me help out and everything, but everyone has to play by all the rules. There were people that were grandfathered in like my family, but since I was not there I start over. The by-laws are such that anyone that even move there from another Apostolic assembly in the country must go through the classes, even retired ministers that move here could be subject to going through the classes.
