She's my oldest sister. CG preached for my Dad quite a few times in Joplin. Welcome to the forum.
The links and info on this thread...well...I haven't even shared it with my mother. It would break her heart.

I do think that they are drawn to a legalistic system, because the boundaries give them hope of keeping their tendencies under control. At some point though, unless they have been delivered completely, many of them end up acting upon those tendencies anyway.

Sherri, Don't you think this sort of comes across as a putdown? a "legalistic system" led to their spiritual demise ?

btw, Tarah is doing really good now. She was in an extremely dangerous condition when we got her home 3 years ago. She was pregnant, severely ill, and she was very close to a nervous breakdown. It took all our prayer and the love and patience of our church and family to restore her. She is still not back 100% but getting better everyday. Their children are now 9,7,6, and 2. They are wonderful children and Christian stays away from them. He is very repentant of the hurt he has caused and is working hard everyday to make up for it by doing whatever Tarah feels is best by them.

that's what I thought. I grew up in Bro. Segraves church in Dexter Mo. and my parents (and all of us) are bestest friends with Susie Hawks and her bunch. You are the baby, I think, And man oh man can you folks sing!!!
Thanks for the welcome. I will have to learn the protocol and my way around.

Why is that weird or odd? I think it sounds very special.

The forum is fun...just have to develop a tough skin. I'm glad to hear that Tarrah is doing alright. I only met her once (maybe twice), but she seemed very sweet. (I'm certain you agree )

I do want to address one more thing..on a personal note. My husband and I are not now nor have we ever been radical, foaming at the mouth, cons. We evangelized for almost 8 years back in the day and knew wonderful people that were but we are not. We are about as middle of the road as you can get. btw, Christian came to our town and lived with us after the baby was born and we helped him to try to restore himself and his marriage but things were just too far gone by then. We still did not know he was gay but we knew of other things going on. We still love him dearly. We are praying everday for his safety.
