But it doesn't seem a whole lot of good influencing goes on. As often happens when a bunch of Christians converge on local restaurants, there's a lot of gluttony, rudeness and very little tipping.

The Church of God in Christ has often held conferences in nearby Niagara Falls, NY back when it had an actual convention center (before the Seneca Indians got a hold of it and turned it into a casino). The only "influence" they had was their reputation of not spending much money and being poor tippers.

In this case, of course, I am correct.

I respect your opinion as a parent to make such a decision for your kid, but just because you don’t think your kid should be with a group of young people, supervised by responsible adults, late at night, does not mean that I agree.
Who said the adults were responsible? Having the kids outside in the middle of the night with air guns and gas masks doesn't sound very responsible.

I find nothing wrong with a youth group having activities that go late into the night, provided it does not encroach on the individual parents belief or interfere with the kids responsibilities.
Ah, isn't moral relativity wonderful!

No chan it is you taking your personal proclivities and turning them into some misguided social/moral construct.

You are one of the most dogmatic people I have ever come in contact with.

My "personal proclivities" used to be the societal norm.

Well, since I am not in a position to determine the veracity of your comparing me with other people you've come in contact with, I won't comment on that. However, I won't deny being dogmatic.

Danicing the jitterbug also was a "societal norm"

Who can gauge that?
