Unfortunately, unless the church is incorporated or includes something in its bylaws (or subpoena'd in a lawsuit) or a required statute, church members do not have a right to church financial records.

I would be wary of attending a church which did not disclose its financial documents.

I don't know that it's stirring discord, but getting teens to work free for their private business is wrong.
How many churches have you attended? You're not a church hopper are you?

Is there any Jesus name, apostolic pentecostal church organizations that direct or have oversight in how the "member" churches function related to finances and disclosure?

No, I'm not a church hopper. I've moved a few times, once to attend college and couple times to help in a couple other church ministries. In all I believe I've been an active member in about 5 or 6 churches. I recently left a church of which I was a member for 7 years. I believe people, especially families, should be established in one church as long as God keeps them there, and not hop from one to another.

I don't know of any. To my knowledge (my father has been a licensed UPC minister for almost 60 years) the UPC leaves that to the local church. I don't believe they have direct oversight in local finances. The church my father pastored was an affiliated church, but I still don't believe there was any direct input by the HQ or even District Board over the finances.

Are UPC "member" churches required to pay tithes & give offerings to HQ?

Not that I'm aware. The financial records I've seen from churches of which I've been a member never had tithes or offerings paid to HQ.

Each minister pays dues which, if I remember correctly, are split between their District and HQ. The only offerings I know which go to HQ are for the various departments, such as Youth, Ladies, Missions, etc.

So X allegedly violates the scripture so Z violates the scripture by suing them? Do I have this right? One wrong cancels out the other? I must have missed that in the beatitudes?

It seems to be quite a train wreck.

I'm still wondering what the 950,000 was for? Especially after the plaintiff posted his thoughts concerning the church and the pastor on a forum?

Defamation also applies to what is posted via Internet. Just a thought. If X is really a violator then he might also sue Z?

OK Lois.

OK Lois, you'll have to explain that because I'm not sure what you are actually saying. Is this preacher talk?

Some people think the "old paths" mean back when "every man did what was right in his own eyes".
