Not to derail the thread but I work and sell industrial and petro chem supplies. I have talked to gentlemen who have worked in the industry for 30+ years and were using coupling procedures that were unsafe.

Bottom line..when confronted with the unsafe practice and shown the "correct" way; the next sentence from their mouth was.."I have been doing this for 30 years!!" Basically saying that because nobody died yet that they are right and you don't know what you are talking about.

SOOOO..just because somebody preaches/teaches something (whatever the "something" is) does not automatically validate the teaching and or preaching. Content and accuracy are what matter, not tenure when it comes to doctrine. usually when someone is confronted with eroneous teaching the first reply is something to do with tenure and credentials..that does not fly all the time.

I knew a man once with a masters degree who could not thread two bolts together without cross threading them...degrees, tenure, and prominence do not always make for accurate sound doctrine....just sayin'

I bet the Independent Fundamentalists have a time with him. They preach hard that you can't lose your salvation, no matter what!

Baptists are varied lot. You have Free Will Baptists (Arminian) and Reformed Baptists (Calvinist). You have Baptist churches like mine that do not require tithing, and you have the Southern Baptist Articles of Faith that appear to teach that tithing is a necessity. Yet most Baptists I know read their Bibles and disgaree. lol

I know of one Baptist church that requires its members to submit a copy of W-2... LOL At least thats what I'm told. I 'd like to believe thats untrue.
