I don't think that is necessarily true. Political liberalism and religious liberalism are two different things. \\You treat "liberal " like it was a dirty word.
In his time Jesus was the biggest liberal on the planet.
In chirch and in politics a balance is needed. Unopposed Conservatism in the church sense leads to legalism, unchecked liberalism leads to worldlineass and lack of consecration.
In the political sense unhindered conservatism can lead to tyranny, unchecked liberalism leads to kind of what we are starting to see now, society out of control with all these voices demanding and receiving attention even when said attention is contrary to the common good.
Both are needed in both circumstances. Just because an idea is liberal doesn't mean it is bad. Unless it comes from the pres. then it is bad by default.
