Why would he have to meet her more than twice if he liked her credentials and thought it would solidify the base. She's a woman and he's a man. She isn't going to be telling him what to do as President, so I don't see the problem, really.

My husband isn't too thrilled about it, BTW. lol

That just struck me as completely odd. I guess each person forms their opinion of people in different ways, but if it was someone I wanted to make sure was ready to be President on "day one" as McCain put it, I'd want to size the person up and judge their personality and temperment in person over a set amount of time. There are certain things that I can perceive about people up close over time that I can't find out over the phone or on paper.

She won the popular vote as Governor with 114,697 votes. You were citing her votes as mayor - past issue, Stew. Good try. lol
No, I thought I was clear that I was referring to her mayoral election. I am not one to try to muddy the waters. I actually did not realize that her gubernatorial numbers were so low as well.

And you can't cite her tremendous "executive experience" as mayor, then call her mayoral issues "past issues". You must be a politician

As far as her astronomical approval ratings. That was from an Anchorage. Alaska basedresearch company that I had never heard cited before. It is hard to imagine anybody with a 90% approval rating, but yes it is general consensus that it is considerably lower now.

Well, knowing how politics works, I didn't find it odd, but I will agree with you about the stepping into the Presidency on day one. I will have to agree with you on that. She still has to sell this idea. We will have to watch and see how it plays out.

I said her "past issue" on the Mayoral stint because that is over in relation to voting numbers. You're being a bit of a politician yourself, brutha! lol

Well, my friend Robby, who lives in Alaska said the state adores the woman, as of yesterday (lol). I read that she is at 84% approval. Kinda high compared to Bush, huh? That's a good approval rating.

Her lower numbers may be because she's suing the Bush Administration. LOL! Get er done, Palin!

But, listen, we would have expected a more experienced candidate out of Obama also. So, this election is unusual on both sides.

That number is the number that came from the Hays Group...and Alaska based group that I had never heard of before...Subsequent numbers have been lowered. Either way it still doesn't address her qualifications.

Re: McCain is Desperate

BTW, after the Dayton acceptance speech Rasmussen has Palin at 53% favorable.

67% didn't know her before the speech and she's shot up to 53%. Not bad.

She is viewed as 78% favorable to Republicans, 26% by Democrats and 63% by unaffliliated voters.

These numbers, of course, are subject to change as we get to know her, but this is where she stands as of today.

Let's talk about it Thursday after her speech Wednesday night. We aren't going to get anywhere with it until then anyway.

Enjoyed the conversation. I'm starting to put out the typos, so I need to hang it up for today. And I'm starting to not pay attention with my ADHD kicking in.

Have a great evening, Stew!
