Because it was Judean mythology. Therefore bringing it up helped the Bible writer prove his point. Go back to my first post in this thread about Tartarus.
We can see how the Helenized Judean Peter is using the word and story to get his point across. Not that he was advocating the story as holy writ. But, interesting that you bring up that the story is surely in scripture. When we don’t have the story anywhere else but in Enoch. Please continue your thoughts on this.

I think Enoch was common mythology based on the accepted, and most ancient understanding, of what occurred in Genesis 6.

Sean, you are the only guy who thinks looking like a complete jerk is a win.
Seriously?

Exactly, the writers use it to prove their point. As Jesus using the deuterocanonical book of the Tobit to refute the Pharisees.
Paul using the hymn of Zeus at the Areopagus.

Re: Book of Enoch, 1 Peter, 2nd Peter, Jude parall
Wherefore, comfort one another on this thread with these words.....
An Oracle of Judgment (1:2—5:9)
2 And he took up his discoursea
and said,
“Enoch, a righteous man whose eyes were opened by God,
who had the vision of the Holy One and of heaven, which
he showed me.
From the words of the watchers and holy ones I heard everything;
and as I heard everything from them, I also understood
what I saw.
Not for this generation do I expound,
but concerning one that is distant I speak.
3 And concerning the chosen I speak now,
and concerning them I take up my discourse.
The Theophany
“The Great Holy One will come forth from his dwelling,
4 and the eternal God will tread from thence upon Mount
Sinai.
20 1 Enoch 1:4-9
He will appear with his army,a
he will appear with his mighty host from the heaven of
heavens.
5 All the watchers will fear and <quake>,b
and those who are hiding in all the ends of the earth will
sing.
All the ends of the earth will be shaken,
and trembling and great fear will seize them (the watchers)
unto the ends of the earth.
6 The high mountains will be shaken and fall and break apart,
and the high hills will be made low and melt like wax
before the fire.
7 The earth will be wholly rent asunder,
and everything on the earth will perish

On just about any other forum, posting like you are would have gotten you banned and booted. You are just harassing the thread posters, not contributing ANYTHING to the conversation at all except noise. It's like when the adults are sitting at the table to have a talk and the bratty kid is running all around making obnoxious pig noises, sticking out his tongue doing the Indian war ululation, and flicking things around on the table, all to try and intentionally disrupt things and be a general pest.
Furthermore, you postings - which are devoid of any contributive factors whatsoever - just clutter up the threads and make it tedious to even bother trying to find something posted by others. I literally have to scroll through two-plus pages every time I try to read a thread that you have butted into to get through all the little blocks that say "this content blocked because user is on your ignore list". While the ignore function certainly makes things easier, it is still a hassle to have to scroll through pages of childish nonsense.

Re: Book of Enoch, 1 Peter, 2nd Peter, Jude parall
One last thing.
I watched the Noah movie a couple of years ago.
The story had little to do with Gen 6, but the book of Enoch instead.
Here is what I am saying.....
https://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/...iants-in-noah/
This movie is accurate according to Jude?

Re: Book of Enoch, 1 Peter, 2nd Peter, Jude parall
The Book of Enoch is a collection of texts, the earliest dating to the third century B.C.E., supposedly authored by the famous Enoch of the Bible, who lived “in the seventh generation from Adam” ( Jude 14)
Read this and think.
Who wrote the book of Enoch?
Oh.
