I can promise you that the level to which Sharpton can affect the real thoughts and actions of the black community at large is miniscule compared to the impact that a Limbaugh has with his constituency. Sharpton is the butt of far more jokes in the black community than shrines...

Maybe among Christians, but Sharpton wouldn't have his own show if he didn't have a popular voice.

Al Sharpton is relevant in the media because the controversy brings ratings...period. I can assure you that it is not black America who is clinging to his every word and getting worked up.

Al Sharpton has run for President of these great United States. If you want to get an idea of the level of influence and respect he has in the black community at large, ask around and find out how many black people campaigned and voted for him and how many laughed hysterically and waited to hear what their favorite comedian had to say about it.

If you were to listen to some people, Obama is President now largely because the black community supported him as an unknown because he was black. Surely this same black community could have voted for the "respected" Sharpton enough to make him a viable contender and not a punchline from the beginning to end of his candidacy.

PO, you're smarter than this.

Sharpton is calling for an "occupy" over the Easter weekend. You will see how many people show up.

On the issue, at the starting point, we have a police report.

People were upset about this case weeks before Sharpton showed up. Will Sharpton look to use this case as a platform? I'm sure. Does that make this particular case irrelevant or should we cloud the issues of this case because of it? Absolutely not.

If you want to see how influential Sharpton is, subtract a case like this. Let Sharpton just hold a "I Love Al" party...or a campaign party and see if tens of thousands show up.

And, BTW, I was driving home the other day, flipped the stations and decided to listen to his program, which I'm not terribly familiar with. I can tell you he did a great job of making the Republicans look like fools and the Democrats like the calm men in the room. I thought, "Impressive you Racist Pimp. Impressive."

He is actually pretty entertaining for one reason...he has become by and at large an entertainer. He is no dummy, that is for sure.

That's what I'm talking about. He is certainly no dummy. Well laid plans. He can do it.

He is a celebrity and he has a name. He is astute enough to get out there and organize something when people are looking to do something anyway. However, I would bet money that a rally right now about this situation hosted, promoted, and pushed by Bishop Jakes would attract more people and be taken more seriously.
