I was way to serious for way too many years - ruling peoples lives and preaching against everything and everybody. I was miserable!
Today - I am a happy camper! I ENJOY LIFE! I love you guys.

Now - when you get so serious - that you condemn our Lord Jesus Christ to HELL - for having facial hair - which he did have - then - YOU ARE WAY TOO SERIOUS!

The fact of the matter is - N. A. Urshan and his peers condemned facial hair and I heard him do it many, many times. They did not like it and now - years later - that generations dislikes - have become the standard and doctrine and some try and justify them with scripture and it just cannot be done.
It has already been said - There are many scriptures FOR the wearing of facial hair and NONE that I have ever seen prohibiting it.

I did not post to offend you Brother - only to get you to see that this gets so ridiculous at times - its funny!
Ar a youth congress in Atlanta a few years ago, Bishop Urshan got on the topic of wordly styles. He said that he didn't like those sissy spiked hairdos on young men and told everyone to look around. If they saw anyone with a spiked hairdo they were to reach over and mess it up.

By spike I just mean the short straight up gelled look.

Obviously my smilies were transparent and only visible to me!

I was just responding in kind to your post... complete with the smile on my face. Your discerner must be broken if you couldn't tell I was poking at you for poking at my friend!

Hey... now that might preach...

Thanks PP for the sermon starter!

Do you have any illustrations to go with it besides the messing up the hair?

THis is how I feel about things..... If a man attends a church and there are a set of standards made by the pastor, obey the standards. If you don't agree with the standards or rules that are set, don't attend. It will only cause you and the pastor grief. I obeyed many many many rules in a church because I was used in many areas of the church. TEacher, Sunday school teacher, keyboardist, woman's leader and toilet scrubber! I didn't agree that everything they said was "sin and hell".... I followed suit because that is where i went to church and I had no problem not doing certain things because I really loved playing music in church...

That is my point exactly! You never could please them. If you obeyed all the rules - they just made more. It got totally ridiculous. You could NEVER DO ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly - the last straw for me (I was around it for 19 years and IN it for 11) was when they passed all these asinine rules in the Georgia District - Could not wear a MICKEY MOUSE WATCH, No "A" (for Atlanta Braves) on a ball cap - you could however wear a "B" on one! Mustache - peach fuzz committees, against COLORED LIP DEW! 21 NEW RULES that the UPC Georgia District passed and I was the ONLY ONE that stood up and said how crazy and embarrassing it was!
It just got to be so stupid - I had to get away from it. At one time being in it was a great asset and a blessing - but it became a liability and I had to distance myself from it.
You cannot Get GOOD enough - obey enough RULES and Standards and regulations to GET GOD! You cannot earn your salvation. I do believe in modesty. I am a Holiness preacher - but I am not CRAZY! Lord have mercy - Well - too much passion tonight - I am gonna shoot and RUN!
Night everybody - I am sure I will have PLENTY to come back too!
Bless you all - IN JESUS NAME!
