I read the things that Pel posts, DA, others, and I'm in awe. But we're talking about the basic handling of scripture here. I'm referring to the proclivity of many, including DB, to say, "Well, that verse doesn't mean what it says. It was translated incorrectly." And of course, it's always a verse that doesn't fit into their doctrinal cocoon.

If one can't explain it as it stands, then go back to school and figure it out.

I just wanna make one thing clear, though....I didn't set out and launch an attack on Rev. Anderson. I've never heard of him before this thread. I didn't talk behind his back, I talked to him person to person, post to post.
That's always better. LOL!

And I didn't not launch an attack on him. I responded to what he FIRST posted, when he stated that there is a concerted effort to publish a Oneness Bible. To be honest, I can't believe a bunch of you Oneness bible-thumpers didn't jump on here and yell even louder than Baron and I did. Seriously, that's scary stuff.
I was reading a passage someone referenced in The Message, yesterday. What a hoot! No one sees anything wrong will all the other translations running around. He is ONE God, so I don't see what Oneness believers could do that could hurt their translation. I like the KJV and would probably stick with that, using others as a reference. JA simply didn't give any "details" about what and how things would be changed. I would need to have something in front of me before I got riled up about it.

And I'm not "hatin' on DB." I don't agree with the way he handles verses that appear to contradict the Oneness doctrine and I think it is an acceptable thing to say on an open forum."

Enjoy your time off!
Thanks! Didn't want to leave you hanging on the Oneness Bible comment. Take care!

Re: Oneness Pentecostal Apologetics Conference

Thank you for your kind words...I am sure there are many verses in the Bible I probably could not explain. However I do see one God throughout the Bible. I am sure there are many different ways to try to explain some verses however just the fact that Godīs chosen people were always taught the Shema is fact enough for us to know how many gods there are.

Languages can become complex...I know I speak 3 different languages....

Thanks! Didn't want to leave you hanging on the Oneness Bible comment. Take care!

But "The Message" or any other bible for that matter, hasn't been translated for the express purpose of building up a sectarian theology. I think there's a big difference.

And "The Message" is basically a commentary anyway, and not a direct translation.

I have not read this thread so I do not know what if any certain scriptures are in question...

I see one God throughout the bible, as well, as does every other trinitarian I've ever talked to.

It doesn't really matter what it is. It is still touted as a legit translation - commentary or direct translation.

John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,.." (KJV)

John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood." (The Message)

It's, like, Mr. Rogers has arrived!!! "Bet ya want to be my friend, yeah, uh ah!"

What a hoot!!!

The Message is a piece of trash and is not a legit translation.
