Since you know that half the church did not stop coming just because they no longer had a Sunday night service there must be something else going on here for there to be a 50% drop in giving. That makes no sense.

I mean are people so ill taught that they don't think they still need to tithe or give offerings just because they have gone to one service on Sunday?

Either that figure is wrong or something else is going on at that church.

Don't you think that people that have a true spirit of giving would give all that they had planned to give in both services in just one?

Instead of putting in tithes in the morning and offerings in the evening, wouldn't they give it all at once?

We had John Ragsdale in Jackson last week. This is the first time I've heard him. He's been there several times but we were still in Adamsville then. I thought he did a really good job and the spirit of God was truly in the place.

Does he come to CC often?

He was based out of CC and was usually in service about once a month. I have not seen him for several months now so I don't know if he still is based out of CC.

He is a very blessed man. He is a good singer, preacher, and a nice person. Not to mention a beautiful smart wife and good looking kids!

I didn't realize he was out of CC. I knew he was Nashville, but didn't connect the dots - ha. He did seem to be a genuinely nice guy. He cracked me up talking about his upbringing in Mississippi. Kind like, you know you're a redneck if.....

You have to think about it Thad...if a church has operated on a two day Sunday service...and it cuts out one service...the church is taking in approximately 50% less than what it would if it had 2 services. Say a church has a regular church offering of the following:

Sunday AM: $5600
Sunday PM: $3000

Total giving on that Sunday is $8600. The church operates on a budget that it will receive $8600 a Sunday. They cut out Sunday night. Sunday AM is still getting that money...but now they are missing $3000. It definately has some impact on the finances of the church.

He has only been in Nashville for a couple of years. Before that he was Asst. Pastor to Kenneth Phillips in Austin, TX for about seven years.
