Sweeping generalizations happen ALL the time on this board. Most of you are guilty though you won't admit it. You probably don't intend it either, but you guys still do it. And it gets OLD. We are NOT all like that. I happen to go to a pretty moderate church. I have had very close dear friends leave the UPC and I saw that some folks did that to them and some did not.

It gets tiring to have people here lump us ALL into the same mold and then condescendingly pretend we are denying there is any such attitude at all and are deluded. Quite frankly I can see very often the shoe is on the other foot and the deluded ones are in fact themselves quite blind

In the future I will try to preface any criicism and observations of old time Pentecostal behaviour as "with exceptions"!!!!!

I don't harp on the things I posted about here but when the occasional thread comes up about them I will respond to posts of people who deny problems exist or minimize them as I felt you did.

I don't have a Cooperish obsession with airing my differences with the UPC and old time Pentecost but I am not shy about sharing my observations and conclusions when the occasion warrants.

I would not know, but you started off saying unkind and I made a point over it and Carp acted as though I was talking about him. I was pointing out HOW this got started and how annoying it gets what with Coop starting 99.9 percent of his threads attacking UPCers and making his own sweeping generalizations, and then when someone points that fact out I see folks get even more vicious with their "typical Apostolic" rants. It really is old and I find it ironic that people talk about Apostolics not fellowshipping with others or non UPCers not fellowshipping with others, but quite frankly if all I have to hear is UPC this and UPC that, I don't see HOW we can fellowship even if we wanted to

CC1, I am sure that he didn't scream every word... you are making a sweeping generalization. If he spoke even ONE word in a normal voice then you cannot claim that he was screaming his guts out.

But I did NOT deny such things happen, you acted as though I did just because I mentioned the sweeping generalizations

The occasion did NOT warrant it. You act as though the term sweeping generalization means "it never happens" and then you got someone else chiming in about strawmen arguments?!?! Good grief!

I don't know what to say about some folks. We got UCs who are against me and we got Flaming liberals...well I won't mention any names....and we got non-upcers that are more conservative and take shots and then we got ex-upcers that left that have to have a piece of the action. It gets old fast....

I made the strawman comment because you set up this entire diatribe to discredit Carp's comments that he was treated differently while greeting another apostolic person, and the way he was treated changed as soon as they saw his wife... even going so far as to accuse Carp of purposely misrepresenting the encounter. This is the kind of stuff that gets old around here. All I am doing is standing behind Carp and CC1's comments... but I apologize for "getting a piece of the action" by commenting here...
