Re: McCain is Desperate

Wherever you fall on the Sara Palin issue, I think we can all agree that this VP choice is one of the most important in our lifetimes given McCain's age. I'm not sure when a VP choice has had as great a chance to actually have to assume the Presidency as she will have.

I guess Reagan's age made Bush important, but even though Reagan was 69, I don't think he'd had the amount of health related issues McCain has faced.

This election is really one of the most interesting in modern history.

I think their stand is "executive" which he doesn't have. And I still agree that you get smart real quick as a Council Member, Mayor or Governor no matter how small or large your constituency is.

She's sharp and focused. She'll have to prove herself tomorrow night. Should I stay home from church, tstew?

I heard a commentator say that her issues on pro-gun, pro-life, etc. will always be an issue the liberals won't be able to defeat for a very long time if she wins.

On that alone - I want her to win.

if it is a push, and these two are running for President then you have to give an edge to Palin on this point because the office of president is about making executive decisions, not crafting a bill.

Now does that mean that if push came to shove, and I had to pick between someone like
McCain: on my team but not as concervitive as me... a Senator with loads of Senatorial experience,

or

Palin more like me in political idology but her only experience was mayor of Wasalia

would I pick Palin? no. but we arent making that comparison. we have to use the mesuring stick available. that is Barak Obama. if that is the mesuring stick, Palin passes the test.
Personally, I would not compare the Mayorship of 5,ooo people to State legislative experience of one of the most important, populace states, with one of the biggest budgets and larger Gross State Products in the world. If the State Legislator proved himself to be a major player, key figure, and policy maker in that environment, I would certainly give the edge to the State Legislator.
She had 617 people vote her into office.

But think about it. Could you, right now, be Governor of Alaska? Could you pull that off and have a good poll rating in say, one year from now?

Her rating has been declining. Her conservative positions alone would account for great ratings in Alaska. And yes, apparently anybody can be governor of Alaska

Re: McCain is Desperate

Let's go down this trail. If you were running for President of the United States and were picking your VP candidate would you feel comfortable meeting and talking to the person twice?

Even given the fact that she had been vetted and I'm sure researched to the hilt on many issues, I'm not sure I could have made that choice based on two personal meetings. That's the one thing that really surprises me more even than her lack of qualifications.

Turkey with the low blow!

Her ratings are not on the decline. Where did you get that info? Wikipedia is not an accurate source. lol

She won the popular vote as Governor with 114,697 votes. You were citing her votes as mayor - past issue, Stew. Good try. lol
