Have you considered that maybe he is not online????
Thank you for presenting the idea that I should give the benefit of the doubt.
If this website is accurate, the thread starter was not only online, but was viewing this thread when I made my request for clarification. I activated the refresh function for several minutes after making my request and the thread starter's user name remained listed as a viewer of the thread.
Again, thank you for promoting consideration of others.

The Hebrew word for "witch" and "witchcraft" do not share the same connotation as the greek word. That might be significant. Secondly, in the context of scripture which does not forbid the practice of medicine, the use of herbs, or men and women from being nurses, midwives or doctors, it would seem more in keeping with scripture to take the alternative meaning of "pharmakeia" which is:
1. the use or the administering of drugs
2. poisoning
3. sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it
4. metaph. the deceptions and seductions of idolatry
Why only pick the definition which supports your belief? You cannot base a doctrine on a single and incomplete definition of a single word, used only ONE time in the New Testament. Especially since the conclusion you are deriving seems out of line with the rest of scripture.

With every advance man makes in technology and medical science...it should blow our minds with how great God is.If it wasnt for God giving us medical technology I wouldnt be here today. In fact my mother wouldnt have lived past 14.Dont get me wrong....you have to put medicine in its proper place.I have also seen the "I dont go to the doctor thing" turn into a really bad spirit of pride instead of faith.
I don't go to the doctor because of my faith in trusting God completely. I also don't have pride because of it either.
One time I had to go to a heart specialist because there was something wrong with my heart and he said that I needed surgery, but I wasn't accepting that. So, I went to church to have people prayed for me and I was instantly healed and I knew you. When I went to give blood and they had to listen to my heart, they found nothing out of the ordinary at all.

That doesn't mean he wasn't doing something else online, though. We live in an age when you can be on several sites at one time, Neubill. Just because you see the green light by someone's name doesn't nececssarily mean they are looking at this site at the time. They could be at another site. He's here now, though, cause he's posted a few posts. Maybe he will answer your questions.

It doesn't promote the use of medicines either, Sister.

Um, Neubill, I leave this forum open sometimes while I am in the kitchen, outside, or even when I leave for hours! LOL!!! Seeing someone on the thread simply means the window is open on their computer--it does not mean they are necessarily sitting in their desk chair in FRONT of the computer.

Guys, as much as I hate having to burst your bubble, our modern day pharmaceutical industry does in fact have its roots in concocting potions, witch doctors, and whatnot. The only difference is that our ability to test the viability of medicinal cures is much better than it was back in the days of witch doctors, medicine men, and suchlike. There is a connection, however. Today we try to synthesize cures that are found in nature, but we are still concocting potions to make medicine. The only difference is that it is now done in a laboratory.
