I guess I am more of the mindset that everyone is worth saving. Wonder if it was your son in this situation?
Kutless ... I have no problem w/ CS comments on this thread ... they affirm/confirm to me what he is about .... I will let his comments stand for what they are worth .... in his own mind.

I forgive him ... in my dad's memory.

You don't know the first thing about Dan...

He's more of a Christian than most people I know... and most people I don't know who frequent this forum (based on their stinking attitudes on this forum).

He's got more truth in him than you have any idea... His spiritual fruit is not rotten.

I just left a group study with 5 other people who have truth in them, too, but they are all still lost.

I think Coonskinner's seen enough of DA's posts to judge the fruit. Either DA's just yanking folks chains (which is a sin) and doesn't believe some of the stuff he posts or he's truly off the path. I go for the latter, having seen his posts for a couple of months now. JMO.

The biggest problem you have w/ me OGIA is that I threaten your perceived monopoly on truth ... some hate to be questioned .... and challenged.

It produces fear in them.

What I believe is no different than most of the liberal posters on this thread ... from MOW .. TB ... on down ....

There were lots of people who had the Spirit of God within them in the OT and I consider the gospels to be part the OT at least until Jesus died. Can't have a new testament without the death of the testaor.

But not all of God's people had the Spirit within them. It seems to be mostly the prophets. Moses wished all God's people had the Spirit and Joel prophesied that one day all and anyone could recieve the Spirit of God.

Numbers 11:28-29 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. 29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

Nehemiah 9:30 ...and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets:

1 Peter 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,

I know he's a good guy. He has a good spirit.

Just because a guy's theology doesn't line up with a particular predominant doctrinal persuasion doesn't mean a person doesn't love God, love truth or that he isn't a good guy. The opposite is true too. Just because someone holds to a status quo doctrinal position that is accepted by a majority doesn't make them a good person or any better than the person who doesn't hold that view.

I agree w/ this post ... it seems that only a select few ... had this privilege ... which may explain the infilling of Zacarias ... a priest and Levite ....
Elizabeth ... and JB ... who was the last of the great prophets ....

JB was given the extraordinary pre-ordained task of preparing the way for the Lamb of God .... considering this task he would need an endowment of diving power. His parents who would raise him also needed this power.

... the distinction .... is not in the "type "of Holy Ghost that was received or in a "distinct" experience ... being filled by the Holy Spirit is being filled by the Holy Spirit ....

the promise is now for all ... Peter makes this clear in his message at Pentecost...

Acts 2:
17" 'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19I will show wonders in the heaven above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved

after making reference to Joel .....

Peter reiterates this promise ....

39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."
