Bro Eastman though is referring to a biblical truth and not merely a "faith". If Mormons pointed to the bible and said "Look God heals" I would agree with them that this is a biblical experience. Bro E is here talking about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is a biblical experience.

You know even early Methodists during the time of Wesley experienced speaking in tongues. Are you saying it is not real?

Well the "huffy" part is that you add these little comments which sound like snide comments when you say on the one hand you want to know what we believe, but then you add the other comments like what you said to Bro E about dispairing for you. If all you want to do is know what we believe in why then why not stick with just that part?

What does the bible say? I keep stressing this point and you keep saying that's all you are doing but these discussions really do seem to hinge a lot on emotive appeal

So did early Mormons, and so do some Hindus. Are their tongues real?

I haven't said whether tongues are real or not. I'll give you my opinion on this matter, if you really want me to.

It sounded snide to say "don't despair for me"? I didn't intend it that way. Didn't even mean to imply that he was despairing for me. Thought my comment about the JWs' chances would make that clear.

Was it snide to ask you if something I concluded from your post and what I thought I knew about Apostolic teachings was correct?

Perhaps some of the questions I have asked have an emotional aspect, such as when I asked about my grandma's eternal fate. But you people make broad general statements that, if true, can have a huge specific emotional impact! Do you believe what you say, or not? Do your generalities apply to specifics, or not?

Did you see my post about whether I was a troll? Going to respond?

Did Bro E ask if you received his tongues? I thought the question was the biblical experience...have you received it? And maybe some early mormons DID speak in tongues. If you study early Mormonism you will see that their doctrine changed a lot over time. Hindus? I never hear them speak in tongues or what circumstances it was...can you give me an example to check out?

The biblical experience of tongues. Did the Methodist really speak in tongues?

It may have sounded that way to him....in the midst of what was hoped to be a biblical discussion it can be confusing when people make off the wall remarks like that.

See your grandma's eternal fate does not determine yours or anyone elses. As soon as we emotionalize the word of God we lose perspective. We might all end up being Unitarian Universalists or gay accepting congregations because we are going by emotional reasoning and not on what the bible says. If what the bible says means a loved on was lost and went to hell, should we accept it or look for another path?

yes. You keep saying you are here just to find out what we believe and yet here we go again. Are you really here to discuss the scriptures and what we believe?

Thought I had, but I realised later it was fake. Gibberish I made up, but it didn't seem to bother anyone.

Sorry for the off-the-wall comment, then.

True. Didn't say it did.

I would accept it, without emotion.

No. You caught me, red-handed. I'm just a troll. You have amazing discernment.

So you just made it up? I can honestly say when I first had this experience I was not making up anything. It was so profound. In fact I was expecting it for more than 6 months when it occured. If I wanted to make it up I would have done it the first week and be done with it.

I don't doubt though that you faked it. I am sure others have.
Thank you

I don't know.
But you do know the history there right? The early methodists often experienced tongues and other miracles. The campbellites did. The current Pentecostal movement started with similiar minded people.
