Well, hopefully while you are in heaven there won't be any clouds, fog or lighting or you won't be able to worship.
If we ever be driven underground as a Church & have to worship in peoples basements, it will really weed out those who can worship God without all the bells & unnecessary whistles!
There are many people that have never experienced those two things (kegs and concerts).
My outlook on what gives God praise changed (life changing actually) when I saw a drummer take off on a drum solo in the middle of church and tears were streaming down his face because he was using "his gift" to worship God.
At first, I stiffened up thinking how in the world can this "beat" be praise to God because it sounded like a loud rock concert. If God ever spoke to me it was then when he said who are you to determine who and what form praise is to me.
I asked God to forgive me of my closed mindedness and it has changed my outlook on worship/praise!
I rarely visit AFF for a variety of reasons....this line of unsolicited bashing being one of them. But I do have to "amen" your post RGC. Wow that is deep!
FYI....not all songs sung at CCC are "my style" but I have been taught to worship inspite of the external surroundings and my own internal nature. God is good all the time!
It is not compromise to re-evaluate nonbiblical traditions and alter course.
Do you honestly think the devil cares if we do and don't do some of the things you consider "compromise?"
I think he is pleased that the church has "shut up Heaven" for the last thirty years Ron. We do his work while he sits back and laughs.
PP, your brush is the broadest on here.
Everything that the UPC does is wrong, every standard they have is wrong, all OP'S are wrong and have been wrong & we all should just be like PP & DA and we will be right.

Can we add air-conditioning, PA systems and electricity to the list? Do we stop right before projectors, or right after projectors... just want to make sure we set the "Depth" stop in the right place...
While I understand your concerns, I do take issue with you referring to my church as "looking just like the world".
The use of fog and lights is a once-a-year occurance. It is not something we do regularly. I personally find it distracting, creating more of a concert feel, than a worship feel. But I'm not really a "youth" any longer.
We do this for one weekend a year, our youth weekend.
It surprised and actually hurts a bit, that you would say this about a church you have never been to. One of your own. It lends credence to the "eating thier own" comments that certain others make.
If you could come for one of our regular services, you would never say our church was "just like the world", because once a year we let the youth have the big "concert" feel.
Our youth worship just as exuberantly and sincerely during our Sunday morning and evening services, and prayer services (yes prayer services) as they do during thier one weekend a year.
I am immensly proud of our youth. Perfect, they are not. Perfect I am not.
But the majority of our youth are serving God, loving God, growing in God...
Please take a little step back, and rethink the quick judgement call you made on our church. I know you (from the forum) to be a man who is Christian, above all else.
In all sincerity... because we are your brothers and sisters.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
