Re: When Will A Respected and Influential Leader S
I wonder what David K. Bernard thinks about this issue?

I personally don't feel the motives for the websites on this issue, the graphics being made and posted, the pictures being found and posted, are pure.
If they were, I might have the teeniest tiniest bit of respect for it. I don't have any.
A false teaching can be dealt with in much more wise and sensible ways than this craziness.
It's actually more of a joke.
I don't believe the motives for this are anything less than throwing yet another barb in the direction of the uncut hair doctrine.
(Here's Mrs. LPW getting serious on the forum again. Don't worry, it won't last.
I know better where to put my energies. But surely some of you can see through all this to the real motives behind this big online push)

I agree. I think the mockery tends to dilute the more true biblical and intellectual dealing with this topic. It turns what should be a genuine concern for the body of Christ into more of a sport

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Thank you for publically saying so... I thought I might be alone on this one.

BINGO!!
And some of this stuff is starting to sound just very mean-spirited.

Mrs. L- I agree with you - but I find the propagation of this teaching very disturbing. I follow the teaching of the UPC in regards to hair- but when this "power in your hair" teaching was preached over my church's pulpit- I became very concerned. I feel it is a very dangerous teaching that draws the focus away from the source of power- Jesus Christ- and on to something that we humans can control and manipulate.

I'm certain you are not alone... I'm also certain there are better ways to address teachings we are concerned over. I'm also certain this online push isn't coming from a pure motive.

The only reason that some go along with the magic hair doctrine is that it appears congruent with their views on uncut hair. To them this doctrine is harmless as it is only another possible reason for ladies to have uncut hair.
I don't see how this doctrine can harm these people. except for trying to explain it to a rebellious saint!

You know actually that was my FIRST impression, and it very well MAY be what is in back of this whole thing. However I agree whole heartedly with some who have posted that when you take a truth and then seek to corroborate it with absolute nutty nonsense you debase demean and marginalize the truth you thought you were proclaiming and upholding.
I do know that it has led me even more firmly to feel that Paul was in fact adressing this issue when he called for women to cover their heads with a veil to preclude the whole magic hair doctrine of HIS day. (The city of Corinth was near the Delphi Oracle where the prophetess of Apollo, filled with the spirit of Python would sit over this fissure in the rocks and inhale the escaping natural gas causing her to go into near psychedelic type hallucinations, ranting and raving prophesying with wild dishevelled hair as she threw herself around in a frenzy of "prophetic" energy. I think this is very well what Paul might have called to the mind of the Corinthian church when he asked THEM "Judge within yourselves is it COMELY for a (Christian) woman to pray or prophesy with an uncovered head. In other words knowing the propensity for a womans hair in a wild power packed Holy Ghost service to become wild and dishevelled looking for all the world as though she jsut climbed out of bed, shouldn't she avoid this by veiling her head.
Just had a major argument about this whole thing with a visiting preacher, in fact he is downstairs even as I type!
